As a VENUE: Host your event…

The Walker Art Center, one of the most celebrated art museums in the country, is known for its innovative presentations and acclaimed collections across the spectrum of the visual, performing, and media arts, housed within an award-winning civic landmark.  Amid beautiful galleries, the Walker also offers unique spaces for indoor and outdoor private rentals for artful celebrations, refined receptions, unforgettable weddings, and state-of-the-art corporate events. The iconic building features flexible spaces with high-tech amenities for nearly any size gathering – including a theater, street-level and roof-top terraces, plazas, gardens, and lounges. Hosting your event at the Walker also provides features you won’t find anywhere else: free gallery admission, a private exhibition tour for your guests, a mini-golf outing for an afternoon away from the office, or a cocktail reception with a private screening of the British Arrow Awards to spice up your annual holiday party. Ten distinctive spaces are available:

  • Garden Terrace Room and Terraces: The Garden Terrace Room features 180-degree views of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the city with floor-to-ceiling windows and private outdoor terrace spaces, creating a unique indoor/outdoor wedding or corporate event venue.  The terraces open in April (weather dependent).
    • Capacity: Reception – 240 guests; Seated Dinner – 130 guests; Buffet – 90 guests; Classroom – 75 guests; Theater Style – 208 guests
    • 1700 Square Feet
  • Walker Cinema & McGuire Theater: The Walker Cinema seats 340 and offers a state-of-the-art space for business presentations, film screenings, lectures, and other events. The McGuire Theater seats 385 with main floor and balcony seating and offers an expansive stage and advanced technical capabilities for all types of performances and presentations.
    • Walker Cinema Capacity: Auditorium Style – 340 guests
    • McGuire Theater Capacity: Theater Style – 385 guests
  • Galleries: Private exhibition access gives your guests an experience only the Walker Art Center can offer as one of the five most-visited modern/contemporary art museums in the United States. Galleries can be rented in conjunction with other spaces to entertain your guests with food, drink, and the latest Walker exhibitions.
  • Lounges: The Walker’s iconic architecture provides an exceptional backdrop for a wide variety of special events. The light-filled lounges throughout the building feature floor-to-ceiling windows, open spaces, and a modern aesthetic. The adjacent galleries are also available for private rental.
    • Main Floor Lounge Capacity: Reception – 600 guests; Seated Dinner – 250 guests; Buffet – 200 guests
      • Main Floor Lounge: 3610 Square Feet
    • General Mills Hennepin Lounge Capacity: Reception – 200 guests; Seated Dinner – 100 guests; Buffet – 80 guests
      • General Mills Hennepin Lounge: 3610 Square Feet
    • Cargill Lounge Capacity: Reception – 250 guests; Seated Dinner – 150 guests; Buffet – 120 guests
      • Cargill Lounge: 1750 Square Feet
    • Bazinet Lobby Capacity: Reception – 200 guests; Seated Dinner – 68 guests; Buffet – 55 guests
      • Bazinet Lobby: 2500 Square Feet
  • Crosby Conference Room: The Crosby Conference Room features a flexible meeting space with high ceilings and views of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This versatile space includes a modular conference table that can be easily reconfigured for smaller groups, built-in projector and screen, and lighting that can be set for daytime use or for an intimate social gathering.
    • Capacity: Reception – 100 guests; Seated Dinner 50 guests; Buffet – 50 guests; Classroom – 50 guests; Theater Style – 70 guests
    • 800 Square Feet
  • Skyline Room: Located high above the bustle of Hennepin Avenue, this event space offers breathtaking views of downtown Minneapolis while providing flexibility for hosting events of nearly any size. The Skyline Room is a perfect fit for wedding ceremonies and receptions of all styles, and its built-in AV capabilities are ideal for meetings
    • Capacity: Reception – 380 guests; Seated Dinner – 240 guests; Buffet – 180 guests; Classroom – 160 guests; Theater Style – 240 guests

  • Cityview Room: The Cityview Room offers you and your guests fine private dining in your own restaurant. Bar seating, floor-to-ceiling windows with Minneapolis skyline views, and outdoor dining on the terrace provide the perfect atmosphere to host a cocktail party or dinner for any occasion.
    • Capacity: Reception – 150 guests; Seated Dinner – 90 guests; Buffet – 100 guests

As an EATERY: Food for thought…

Sitting at the base of the Walker’s hillside and overlooking the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Cardamom provides Walker Art Center visitors a chance to relax, chat, and enjoy delicious cuisine influenced by the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.

The Cityview Bar is the place to be before and after most stage performances and British Arrow screenings. Grab a cocktail before the show, or stay afterward for a drink and conversations. Bar seating, floor-to-ceiling windows with Minneapolis skyline views, and outdoor dining on the terrace provide the perfect atmosphere. It’s no wonder the City Pages calls it “one of [the Twin Cities’] most stunning event venues.”
