Hold your special event at The World Theatre! Our beautiful 1927 theatre is housed in the historic Masonic Temple building. Almost every element of the theatre, from floor tiles to plaster, was recently restored to the historic feel of a 1920s vaudeville theatre. We can seat about 300 people for your * Custom Film Showing * Private Date Night * Family Reunion * Graduation, Retirement, or Birthday Party * Group Meeting * Corporate Retreat * Conference or Presentation, or * Wedding Ceremony. Our standard rental contract for use of The World Theatre includes four hours of private use, with an option to add hours for an additional fee. Private film screenings may require additional licensing costs.
For those interested in renting The World Theatre as the backdrop for your stunning wedding ceremony, contracts include private use of the theatre from 10am-5pm. These rentals also include your special message on our street-facing marquee, one staff member for your assistance, and use of our projector.
We are also happy to offer multiple spaces for use in photography sessions! Take advantage of our picturesque new Sweet Shop and swanky lounge, the bright lights on our beautiful red stage curtains, and all the old world charm our 100 year-old theatre has to offer. This is a great option for engagement photos, senior pictures, custom invitations, or social media users.

Our small but mighty The World Theatre online shop sells tickets to our shows and our specialized Film Fanatic Card! If you think you might see 12 movies over the course of a year, then you should look into a World Theatre Film Fanatic Card. If you buy a Film Fanatic Card, you’re not only getting two free movies every year, you’re helping fund critical operations at The World Theatre.

The World Theatre greatly appreciates and relies on your support through attending events, movies and parties, as well as donations. We are a nonprofit, volunteer-run theatre. Our mission is to bring you a better alternative to commercial Hollywood fare by celebrating the motion picture as art and to present unique live stage events that are as eclectic and varied as our venue’s vaudeville past. No matter the event, our purpose is to use art as a means to educate, inspire, incite, unite, outrage and entertain.
The World marks a revival in the lost art of showmanship. That means you get all the modern bells and whistles of a state-of-the-art theatre along with the style of a legendary movie palace. The experience is one of a kind, there’s no calculated extortion between the ticket booth and your seat, and we feature movies for all audiences. Simply put, though our work, movies are fun again. With all tickets at only $5, and because we don’t charge an arm and a leg for a bucket of popcorn, we DEPEND on your support.
