Donations:
We are so grateful for generous donors who support the museum’s operations and programs. Please consider supporting the many children and families who find joy at The Strong by making a gift today! Donations at six specified levels are offered. Memorial and honor gifts are meaningful ways to pay tribute to someone or commemorate a special occasion. These amounts are of your choice.
- Annual Gifts: Annual gifts from members and friends of The Strong help to provide free museum access for thousands of Rochester-area children and families who might otherwise not have an opportunity to experience the museum. These programs ensure that each year thousands of children and adults with financial, physical, and social limitations can visit the museum and experience its rich educational resources and unique play environment. Annual gifts also provide critical funding for ongoing preservation efforts. Donors help The Strong to grow, conserve, and preserve the world’s most comprehensive collection of toys, dolls, games, and other historical materials related to play and to advance the study of play. In addition, annual gifts support museum research and publication activities that advance the study of play.
- Memorial Gifts: Making a memorial or honor gift to The Strong is a meaningful way to pay tribute to someone or commemorate a special occasion. This tax-deductible gift provides a uniquely thoughtful way to honor a birthday, anniversary, or other occasion, or to memorialize a life well lived. In addition to recognizing loved ones, memorial gifts of all sizes help to fund educational opportunities and community outreach experiences at The Strong.
- Gifts of Stock: The Strong is pleased to accept gifts of marketable public stock. Transferring stocks can allow donors to make a difference at The Strong while avoiding costly capital-gains taxation and receiving an income-tax deduction based on the transferred stocks’ fair market value.
- Planned Giving: Financial donors play a vital role in ensuring the stability of The Strong museum and its ongoing service to families, schools, and individuals. Planning now to make a deferred gift will help ensure that The Strong experience will be available to future generations. Through foresight and generosity, individuals can work with the museum to fulfill long-term philanthropic goals while managing current tax situations. A deferred gift may also afford the opportunity to make a more significant gift than might otherwise be possible. Planned gifts may be made using any of the following vehicles:
- Bequests
- Appreciated Securities
- Charitable Remainder Trust
- Charitable Lead Trusts
- Life Insurance Policies
- Corporate Partners: Corporate Partners enjoy a suite of benefits to share with their employees while providing critical funding for The Strong – a highly visible community cornerstone that attracts nearly 600,000 visitors each year. The Strong’s Corporate Partners are organizations that are investing in the community and the lives of their employees. We invite you to join other businesses and corporations who partner with the museum and support The Strong’s exhibits, programs, and preservation efforts.
- Corporate Sponsorship: Sponsoring an exhibit or program at The Strong allows businesses to increase visibility among one of the region’s largest consumer bases of families with children – while also supporting a vital educational resource.
- In-Kind Contributions: The Strong is grateful to businesses that contribute materials, supplies, or services the museum would otherwise need to purchase.
