Since 1929, the Turnblad Mansion has been the backdrop for some of the most romantic weddings and spectacular soirees in the city.

• Turnblad Mansion: Built in 1908 and on the national register of historic places, the Turnblad Mansion is Minneapolis’s only ‘castle’ and the perfect venue for intimate and unforgettable ceremonies and receptions. • Larson Hall: The clean, Nordic design of ASI’s largest single-room venue is a blank canvas to unleash your creativity and vision. it is ASI’s largest event venue and is perfect for seated dinners, standing events, lectures, receptions and performances.

• Turnblad Mansion Veranda: Host your ceremony or reception on the front veranda of the Turnblad Mansion, a truly unforgettable setting for your special day.
  • Capacity: 250 ceremony, 150 reception.
• Paulson Hall: Paulson Hall within the Turnblad Mansion is perfect for dinners and presentations and is located adjacent to two classrooms that can be used for breakout sessions or preparation.
  • Capacity: 120 theater or reception, 80 plated.
• Nelson Cultural Center: This sleek and modern venue for receptions, parties, and ceremonies offers grand indoor spaces with exceptional views of the Turnblad Mansion and courtyard.
  • Capacity: 700 reception across two floors.
• Board & Meeting Rooms: ASI’s Folke Bernadotte conference room is ideal for meetings and presentations.

As an EATERY: Food for thought…

EAT NEW NORDIC.

FIKA is ASI’s Nordic-inspired café in the American Swedish Institute. With the historic Turnblad Mansion in full view, guests dining at FIKA can choose from a seasonal menu dedicated to regional ingredients and New Nordic cuisine. The Swedish tradition of fika is both a daily break and a national institution, usually involving coffee, pastries and social conversation. In warm weather, dine outdoors on one of the best patios in the Twin Cities and take in the Turnblad Mansion’s courtyard gardens. Walk-ins are welcome for all groups. Indoor and outdoor tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan to pay with a credit or debit card. Gift cards are available for purchase.

• Annual Gifts: Thank you for considering a 100% tax-deductible gift to the American Swedish Institute. Gifts to ASI support our exciting array of innovative programs, exhibits, and events throughout the year. If you represent, or know of an organization primarily in the Phillips or adjacent neighborhoods of south Minneapolis that meets the following criteria and might benefit from access to the ASI Community Fund support, we encourage you to apply or share this information.
• Donations at specified amounts are designated and you may customize your gifts. Recurring gifts are encouraged.  Matching gifts by your employer can be facilitated.
• Community Fund: The Community Fund is designed to be nimble and responsive to emerging neighborhood needs in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing. With the Fund, ASI seeks to listen to our neighbors and support them as they build, invigorate and reimagine our shared community. • Heritage Society Planned Giving: By indicating your generous intent to make a planned gift, you join ASI’s Heritage Society, a group of ASI’s most dedicated friends whose support leaves a lasting legacy. Contributions may come in the form of bequests, trusts, or a variety of other planned gift options. ASI welcomes contributions from retirement plans, charitable remainder trusts, insurance policies, revocable or irrevocable trusts, and charitable gift annuities.
• Sponsorship: The Swedish American Museum is grateful for all the support it receives from hundreds of individuals and institutions. It is through their generosity that the Museum can bring the Swedish immigration story to the public as well as an abundance of cultural events and temporary exhibits. • Immigrant Wall: Preserve your family history and honor your immigrant ancestors by placing their names on the Immigrant Wall of Honor. Purchase a brick to be personalized with a brass plaque, engraved with the honoree’s name, country/nationality, and year of immigration. The cost is $50 per brick and is tax deductible.

Volunteer: Volunteers have been an integral part of our Museum since our inception in 1976. We wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for their hard work and dedication! The Museum is always hosting special events, workshops, and lectures providing cultural and educational programming to the community.
