Volunteer:
Volunteers are our lifeblood—we can’t do our work without you! In fact, for our work with volunteers in the community, Publicolor won in 2000 our nation’s highest award, the President’s Service Award. There are so many rewarding ways to get involved!
- Painting: Please join us any Saturday to paint alongside our students and informally mentor them by talking about your education and career. This dialogue introduces our youngsters to a much wider variety of job options than ever imagined, and encourages them to stay in school. Engagement in this type of high-level conversation is a greater indicator of academic success than family income. What an effect you can have!
- Corporate Volunteering / Team Building: Publicolor’s Paint Club is a hands-on, project-based learning program that brings together students and corporate volunteers to paint New York City public schools and other underserved community facilities with vibrant colors. Make a difference in the communities where your employees live + work.
Tutoring: Help our students reach their potential! Publicolor is committed to engaging underachievers in their education. Our tutors make all the difference between a grade C and a grade A! We provide textbooks and the support of our dedicated program managers—just bring your smiling self! Tutoring takes place Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday afternoons from 4:30 – 6:00 pm in our colorful office.
Mentoring: Because most of our high school and college students are the first in their families to attend college, they need ongoing guidance as they navigate unfamiliar terrain. This is a great opportunity to share your college experiences and model the dedication needed to succeed!
Leading a Workshop: Embrace your inner teacher! Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 4:30 – 6:00 pm in our colorful office, we offer career exposure workshops organized into industry centric modules. We would love our students to benefit from your experience and expertise!
Job Shadowing: Help our students envision their professional futures! They would benefit greatly from visiting you and your colleagues for a few hours one afternoon. Your guidance about how they should approach interviews and present themselves to potential employers is invaluable.
Identify an Internship: We invite corporations to identify internship opportunities that will provide our students with practical work experience, which exposes them to career opportunities, increases their job skills, and enhances their resumes.
