Why OMSI? Founded in 1944, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) helps everyone discover their love for science. Without diverse scientific thinkers, decisions can be uninformed, and fears—not facts—motivate actions. We have a vision that OMSI, collaborating with partners, will ignite an education transformation at the intersection of science, technology and design that spreads opportunities across the Northwest. Through hundreds of exciting hands-on exhibits, engaging lab activities, camps, classes, and outreach programs that span across the region, OMSI empowers a scientifically-literate community by exploring the connections between the big wide world and our individual impact.

  • Make a Gift: Your support will help spark an interest in science for over one million children and families per year.
  • Planned Giving: Light a path for the future by leaving a legacy with a lasting impact. By making a planned gift you will provide long-lasting support and ensure out-of-school science learning opportunities are available for generations to come.
    • Gifts of Stock & Bonds: Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to our organization.
    • Gifts of Real Estate: Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch or commercial property can make a great gift to our organization.
    • Gifts of Retirement Assets: Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent way to make a gift to our organization.
    • Gifts of Cash: A gift of cash is a simple and easy way for you to make a gift.
    • Gifts of Insurance: A gift of your life insurance policy is an excellent way to make a gift to charity. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults.
  • Corporate Sponsorships: Make smart business connections, reward your employees, and build STEM-literate communities. Reach new audiences, improve brand recognition, engage clients, and reward employees. With plenty of sponsorship and membership options, you’ll be a hero for supporting science education in your community.
  • Foundation Partnerships: Ignite an education transformation that spreads opportunities across the region. Grant funding from local, regional and national private foundations—accompanied by support from government agencies—is crucial to our work.

Volunteer: It takes a village: Our volunteers come from all over, bringing energy and talent to the museum. From greeting visitors to presenting amazing science demonstrations to helping behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here. We’re Ready for You. Share your passion for learning and science with your community by joining our volunteer team. As an OMSI Volunteer, you’ll gain new skills and experience, meet interesting people, and enjoy a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. What does it take? Most volunteer positions require at least 8 hours per month for at least 9 months.

Internship: OMSI has a wide range of work-study and internship opportunities serving students with professional, impactful avenues to engage in experiential and community-based learning.
