Why OMSI? Founded in 1944, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) helps everyone discover their love for science. Without diverse scientific thinkers, decisions can be uninformed, and fears—not facts—motivate actions. We have a vision that OMSI, collaborating with partners, will ignite an education transformation at the intersection of science, technology and design that spreads opportunities across the Northwest. Through hundreds of exciting hands-on exhibits, engaging lab activities, camps, classes, and outreach programs that span across the region, OMSI empowers a scientifically-literate community by exploring the connections between the big wide world and our individual impact.
- Make a Gift: Your support will help spark an interest in science for over one million children and families per year.
- Planned Giving: Light a path for the future by leaving a legacy with a lasting impact through your estate planning. By making a planned gift, you will provide long-lasting support and ensure science learning opportunities are available for generations to come. By planning for a gift in your will, you become a member of the J. C. Stevens Society and will receive invitations to exclusive annual events.
- Donor Advised Fund: You fund a DAF and make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. When you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving.
- Wills & Bequests: You may be looking for a way to make a significant gift to help further our mission. A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the most popular and flexible ways that you can support OMSI.
- IRA Charitable Rollover: An IRA rollover allows people age 70 1/2 and older to reduce their taxable income by making a gift directly from their IRA.
- Beneficiary Designations: A beneficiary designation gift is a simple and affordable way to make a gift to support OMSI. You can designate OMSI as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment or bank account or your life insurance policy.
- Corporate Sponsorships: Make smart business connections, reward your employees, and build STEM-literate communities. Reach new audiences, improve brand recognition, engage clients, and reward employees. With plenty of sponsorship and membership options, you’ll be a hero for supporting science education in your community.
- Foundation Partnerships: Ignite an education transformation that spreads opportunities across the region. Grant funding from local, regional and national private foundations—accompanied by support from government agencies—is crucial to our work.
Volunteer: It takes a village: Our volunteers come from all over, bringing energy and talent to the museum. From greeting visitors to presenting amazing science demonstrations to helping behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here. We’re Ready for You. Share your passion for learning and science with your community by joining our volunteer team. As an OMSI Volunteer, you’ll gain new skills and experience, meet interesting people, and enjoy a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. What does it take? Most volunteer positions require at least 8 hours per month for at least 9 months.
