Our goal is to share with you and your guests this cultural treasure, together with impeccable service, delicious food, and superior ambience, to make your occasion one that surpasses all your expectations. Six distinctive spaces are available:

  • West Building Great Hall: The Museum‘s premier facility: entertain in the midst of the Museum’s permanent collection.
    • Capacity – Standing: 250 guests / Dinner – Dancing: 150 guests
  • North Courtyard: Beautifully landscaped sculpture garden with trees and reflecting pool.
    • Capacity – Standing: 100 guests
  • East Building Main Hall: The former Egyptian Gallery provides a stunning space for large events.
    • Capacity – Standing: 275 guests / Seated Dinner: 200 guests
  • Distance Learning Center: Classroom-style setting with audiovisual capabilities included.
    • Capacity – Seated: 40 
  • Museum Auditorium: Auditorium space available for presentations, seminars, and performances with audiovisual capabilities, large screen, and stage.
    • Capacity – Seated: 235 guests
  • Education Lobby: Auditorium space available for presentations, seminars, and performances with audiovisual capabilities, large screen, and stage.
    • Capacity – Standing: 200 guests / Seated Event: 125 guests

The three Museum Stores serves visitors at the:

  • West Building Main Store (the main Museum Store): New enhancements include a large gallery wall featuring * a rotation of works created by statewide artists. Our space has been reimagined with inviting and accessible furniture and displays as well as * new merchandise from local artisans. We are thrilled to feature our logo on an array of * clothing * housewares, and * small items to take your NCMA experience home and enjoy long after your visit. Families are always welcome, and maker tables are available for all ages.
  • East Building Exhibition Store
  • Welcome Center (located in the Museum Park): Offers stunning views, * nature-themed books and games * branded clothing items to make your walking adventures more enjoyable, and a * selection of refreshments for purchase * innovative design objects * art books and * exhibition catalogues * beautiful artist-crafted jewelry, and * more. Introduce children to the world of art through * educational toys * books * art kits, and * games. There are items for every budget and all occasions.

Our mission is to provide a memorable experience through our diverse selection of fair-trade and local artisanal goods inspired by our people’s collection, our Museum campus, and the state of North Carolina. From honey made by bees in the Museum Park to original works of art, there are so many ways to take a part of the Museum home for yourself or a loved one! Your free timed ticket to the Museum also allows you entry to the Store.

As an EATERY: Food for thought…

Catering Works offers a variety of on-site food and beverage options and is committed to bringing you a great dining experience  with fresh and delicious fare at the NCMA. Menus emphasize locally sourced ingredients and include unique dishes that are inspired by the latest exhibition and the People’s Collection. Vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary options are available.

NCMA Café: NCMA Café offers a fresh and flavorful dining experience with its spring and summer menu. Featuring items crafted by chef Rick Sloan utilizing high-quality ingredients, the café presents vibrant seasonal brunch and lunch dishes, an enjoyable selection of * wines and * artisan desserts. Menu highlights include: * spring pea hummus * roasted tomato quiche * shrimp and grits, and classic favorite * Art of the Burger. We can’t wait for you to join us!

Membership:

Membership provides more ways to engage in all the Museum has to offer and helps support our general operations. If not already a member, consider joining today.

As a member you’ll enjoy free admission to exhibitions, invitations to special events, discounts in the Museum Store and so much more! Memberships are good for one year, beginning when the membership is purchased and lasting 12 consecutive months. For Patron level and above memberships, you may waive your benefits; in that case your membership becomes 100 percent tax deductible, and no sales tax will be charged. Gift memberships are also encouraged. Membership at specified levels is offered: * Individual * Dual/Family * Patron * Benefactor * Fellow * Director’s Circle * Humber Society, and * Collectors Cabinet.

NOTE: Reciprocal Memberships:  All Patron-level and above members enjoy free or discounted admission to over 1,600 museums across North America and access to travel opportunities through the Museum Travel Alliance. Docents: Docents facilitate Museum tours and enjoy sharing interpretive insights with thousands of visitors every year.

Volunteer: Our volunteers play a vital role in advancing our mission of preserving the people’s art collection. Their support allows the Museum to engage with the community and enrich lives through the power and wonder of art.

Internships: Internships at the NCMA provide opportunities to become familiar with and actively contribute to the inner workings of an art museum. They are available in many departments, such as Curatorial, Education, Marketing, and Advancement.

Art Society: As the founding body of the North Carolina Museum of Art, this group advocates for the Museum across the state, so that all citizens—newcomers and natives, schoolchildren and seniors—know that they have a museum in Raleigh.

Friends of the Judaic Art Gallery: The Judaic Art Gallery at the North Carolina Museum of Art illuminates the spiritual and ceremonial life of the Jewish people through works of art of aesthetic excellence.

Friends of Greek Art: Marble statues of heroes, emperors, gods, and goddesses displayed with ceramic vessels of remarkable skill in the classical art galleries enrich the visit of adults and children, offering insight into history, artistic techniques, and philosophy.
