And we’d like to help you! Did you know that, through a planned gift to the Freedom Center, you can: Make a deferred gift by including the museum in your will; Avoid or postpone capital gains tax; Give yourself or someone you love a life income that may be greater than that earned by current investments; Reduce gift and estate taxes on assets passing to your heirs; Diversify your portfolio without incurring capital gains taxes on sale of assets.
  • Celebrate a Loved One: Have you considered honoring a loved one with a gift to the Freedom Center? We’d be happy to talk with you about the options for commemorative gifts, such as remembering a deceased loved one or celebrating the birthday, anniversary or other special day of a friend or family member.
  • Verneida I. Britton Memorial Fund: The Verneida I. Britton Memorial Fund was established in 2021 to celebrate and remember the life of Verneida Britton. Verneida passed away peacefully on March 28, 2021, but her family, friends, and loved ones will never forget her. Verneida Britton lived her life educating and helping others achieve their goals.  In particular, she had a love for teaching history and inspiring youth to reach their full potential. Verneida brought this passion to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center when it opened in 2004 and played a significant role in developing some of our key programs. She joined the first docent class giving tours and was instrumental in training new docents and new staff. She played a big part in building the Youth Docent program at the Freedom Center into a nationally acclaimed program by The Links Incorporated. She also chaired the Freedom Center’s annual King Legacy program, which includes training opportunities for youth to come together to inspire and motivate others based on the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. The program consists of educational opportunities for high school students to host conversations about the current state of America and how they see themselves playing an important role, like the courageous conductors of the Underground Railroad era, in bringing about positive social change for our country.
  • Foundation Giving: We consistently aim to extend our mission beyond our walls. Foundations have always been on the cutting edge with us, funding provocative ideas and encouraging us to work better to reach more children and families. Without the support of the foundation community, great ideas remain just that… ideas. With your help, we have the opportunity to change the status quo and to inspire youngsters in real ways that will result in real changes for their lives.

Corporate Partnership Program: A corporate partnership is a unique opportunity for your company to support the mission of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. It is also a great way to take advantage of our first-class facilities, exhibits and programs for you and your employees.
