Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., the National Museum of Women in the Arts is one of the most spectacular event venues in the city. With elegant and functional spaces, this historic venue is the perfect place to host * weddings * corporate & * nonprofit affairs, and a variety of other * social soirees. Our professional event staff will share their expertise and suggest knowledgeable vendors, guaranteeing a successful and memorable occasion. Four distinct spaces are offered:

  • Great Hall and Mezzanine: The Great Hall, which features a second-level Mezzanine, is an elegant space ideal for dinner, dancing, or a cocktail reception. Guests are greeted in a marble reception area that leads into a ballroom adorned with three crystal chandeliers and works of art from the museum’s collection. On two sides, white marble staircases sweep upward to the spacious and ornate Mezzanine.
  • Elisabeth A. Kasser Board Room: The elegant Elisabeth A. Kasser Board Room, located on the Mezzanine, is a perfect space for private meetings or intimate functions.
  • Third Floor Gallery: The Third Floor Gallery, home to highlights from the museum’s notable art collection, provides a unique backdrop to any occasion. Host a private cocktail reception while surrounded by artwork from the 16th century to today.
  • Performance Hall: Located on the fifth floor, the Performance Hall is an ideal space for a lecture, symposium, or program. The Performance Hall can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., with easy access to the Convention Center and a multitude of hotels, our historic and versatile venue awaits you. Whether you are planning a nonprofit fundraiser, government soirée, or corporate milestone celebration, our spaces can be used functionally and creatively. The museum’s Special Events staff is available to guide you through the entire planning process.
    • NOTE:  WEDDINGS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS: With a magnificent marble interior and dazzling chandeliers, the National Museum of Women in the Arts offers an elegant setting for celebrations both large and small. Weddings at the NMWA are a jaw-dropping affair with enough room for up to 450 guests for a seated dinner. A ceremony can accommodate 280 to 300 guests. Want to have a smaller wedding? No problem! The museum’s Great Hall and Mezzanine are the perfect space for wedding, no matter the guest list. The Third Floor Gallery is also available to rent for cocktail hour, allowing for the perfect event flow from ceremony to cocktail hour, to dinner and dancing! Whether you are celebrating a wedding, a Mitzvah, a milestone birthday, or retirement, the museum’s event staff will happily advise you on how best to use our historic and versatile space. Highly trained and experienced event professionals are at your fingertips through our Special Events office to make your occasion unforgettable.

Help us advocate for women in and through the arts! Members support our exhibitions, education programs, outreach, publications, and so much more. There are seven opportunities to donate:

  • Annual Fund: Your fully tax-deductible, non-membership gift to the Annual Fund will go straight to work supporting our programs, exhibitions, and advocacy efforts. Volunteer: Our dedicated corps of well-trained volunteers is one of the museum’s most valuable resources. Volunteers help the museum champion women through the arts by interacting with visitors, serving as welcoming and passionate representatives of the institution, and assisting NMWA staff.

Docents: The museum’s Docent Corps is a team of talented and dedicated individuals who serve the museum as volunteer educators. Docents facilitate high quality, in-person, interactive, visitor-centered collection and exhibition experiences for adult groups. Docents commit to an initial training, lasting approximately one year, and at least two years of service.

Program Volunteers: The museum’s Program Volunteers are a team of energetic and engaging volunteers eager to assist visitors at the museum. Program Volunteers support NMWA on-site events, including education, membership, and public programs.These volunteers commit to an initial day-long training and at least one year of service.
