OUR MISSION
The National Honey Board (NHB) promotes responsible industry practices to ensure the honey consumed every day is trustworthy and pure.
TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS
- We fund research projects designed to find new and improved uses for honey in foods and other products.
- We offer consumers honey information through recipes and photographs of honey-serving ideas that are provided to newspaper and magazine editors across the country.
- We provide information for special honey and beekeeping stories that appear in newspapers, the internet, and on radio and television stations.
- We provide honey merchandising materials to honey industry producers-packers, retailers, the foodservice industry, and honey handlers. Posters, recipes, a cookbook, stickers, fact sheets…the list goes on and on. For an order form, call the NHB office or download the order form directly from this site.
- We fund research projects to find ways to maintain the health of honey bee colonies.
- We fund programs to educate chefs on the uses of honey.

The National Honey Board advocates for the sustainable production of honey. We are committed to ensuring the honey you love is sustainable today and for future generations. ABOUT HONEY
The story of honey is older than history itself. An 8,000-year-old cave painting in Spain depicts honey harvesting, and we know it’s been used for food, medicine and more by cultures all over the world since.
But honey isn’t about humans. It’s the natural product made by bees—one of our planet’s most important animals. Honey bees visit millions of blossoms in their lifetimes, making pollination of plants possible and collecting nectar to bring back to the hive.
Lucky for us, bees make more honey than their colony needs, and beekeepers remove the excess and bottle it. Just like they’ve been doing since the beginning of time.
