As a VENUEHost your event…

Have you considered holding your next * meeting * training * reception, or * social event at the Missoula Art Museum? MAM provides an elegant and sophisticated setting for your distinctive event and gives you the unique opportunity to privately view art in all of our galleries. Four distinctive spaces are available:

  • Goldberg Family Foundation Library: MAM’s state-of-the-art library is available for meetings, presentations, film screenings, trainings, talks and other small gatherings. The space seats 15 and has a six-foot projection screen and a range of audio-visual equipment for rent. Food and drink are allowed.
  • Gallagher Foundation Classroom & Margaret Sample Classroom: MAM’s classrooms are versatile; they may be rented separately or combined for one large space. The large space is perfect for art classes and demonstrations, casual lunches, and lectures. Each classroom holds 25-50 people depending on the event and features a six-foot projection screen and a range of audio-visual equipment for rent. Food and drink are allowed.
  • Bertsche Reception Desk and Lobby: MAM’s lobby boasts soaring vertical space, large windows, and a stunning three-story aperture. This space is perfect for standing social receptions with music. Because it is adjacent to the classrooms, the lobby combines well with presentations or recitals that also incorporate a reception. The lobby is included in facility rental use in conjunction with any of the galleries.

Donations:

Art is everything. Art is connection. Art is humanity and empathy. Art is a voice, a way – what we need more of as we feel surrounded by ambiguity and fear. Forty-five years ago the Missoula community created our museum through a grassroots movement, and now we are asking for your help to make it stronger than ever before! Please consider a contribution of any size at this critical moment for art in our community.

  • Monetary Donations: The Missoula Art Museum accepts cash, credit, debit, and check donations. Please stop by the museum during opening hours to drop off a cash or check. Sign up for recurring donations each month. Online donations are open 24/7!
  • Gifts of Stocks & Securities: Each stock gift we handle strengthens our programmatic work while providing tax benefits for supporters. We recommend that you consult with your attorney or tax adviser for the various tax benefits and restrictions that may apply to your specific situation. We are available to you and your advisers to answer questions or help arrange a planned gift to the Missoula Art Museum.
  • Give from your IRA: No matter your age, you can give from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). An IRA charitable rollover is a way you can help continue the work of the Missoula Art Museum while receiving a tax benefit.
  • Planned Giving: MAM is ready and willing to assist donors at any age in planning their legacy. Planned giving can help you fulfill your philanthropic dream of supporting contemporary art. When donors leave a gift to MAM in a will or other estate plans, they are creating a lasting legacy for contemporary art that will inspire tomorrow’s artists and ensure MAM’s mission for generations to come. For 45 years, MAM had modeled leadership in supporting contemporary art and artists. If you have included MAM in your estate plans, informing us of those plans enables us to properly express our gratitude.
    • Bequests: Bequests are gifts made to the museum through your will or trust. You can give a specific dollar amount or asset, a percentage, residue, or balance of your estate, or a beneficiary designation of certain assets. Bequests are one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an adviser, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to the Missoula Art Museum as part of your estate plan.
    • Gift Annuities: A charitable or deferred gift annuity is a gift that allows an individual or couple to make a tax-deductible gift to MAM and receive lifetime income payments in return. When the donor(s) pass away, the museum receives the remainder of the gift. Please contact us to discover the many benefits a charitable gift annuity provides both you and the museum. The development office can field your questions and provide confidential proposals for you without obligation.
  • Annual Auction: MAM‘s commitment to free admission, free expression, and free education is center stage at the annual benefit art auction. For over 45 years, the annual benefit art auction has made it possible to share these values and great works of art with our entire community. MAM’s live auction is a spectator sport that has to be experienced to be appreciated. The purchase of live and silent auction artworks at MAM’s benefit art auction supports all of MAM’s core programs and exhibitions. MAM is proud to support more than 200 local, regional, and national artists through exhibitions each year and offer free educational programs to all schools in our region. The success of MAM’s fine art auction for over 45 years is thanks in great part to the generosity of many local businesses, a stellar volunteer auction committee, and the artworks donated by some of the most beloved and most accomplished artists of our time.

Business Sponsorship: The Missoula Art Museum is growing its base of support to include an active network of donors from the business community.

  • Business Membership: MAM business members provide annual, flexible support for MAM. These funds are an important part of underwriting the museum’s free admission. Any annual contribution (cash or in-kind) over $500 entitles the business to be recognized as a MAM business member. Promotional benefits for business members include annual recognition on the museum’s donor wall, in MAM’s Annual Report, and in an issue of MAM’s newsletter.
  • Business Sponsors: Business sponsors comprise MAM’s supporters from the business community that want to exhibit a close and substantive partnership with MAM. The Museum provides a variety of ways for companies to combine philanthropic support with cross-marketing benefits, giving exposure to a broad demographic of visitors and donors. Company-specific visibility and recognition will be accorded to each business sponsor.

Volunteer: Volunteers are at the core of MAM education programming and are critical to every offering we have from tours to classroom workshops, to research. Volunteers can engage at their comfort level: weekly, monthly, or occasionally. Our volunteer community at MAM is full of new friends who want to learn and serve the arts community of Missoula together. No previous art education or art experience is necessary! MAM’s education team will train you in the necessary skills and best practices.

  • Docents: MAM volunteer docents lead hundreds of school children through exhibitions each year. Docents also have the opportunity to lead tours for adults and a variety of special populations that particularly interest them: our Creative Aging programs, serving adults with dementia and aphasia, students with special needs, early childhood tours for our youngest children, and our summer ARTreach tours for summer camps serving under-resourced children.
  • Education Interns: Interested in working alongside professional teaching artists and exhibiting arts in the classroom during the Fifth Grade Art Experience, summer camps, or a scheduled class or workshop? Education Volunteers assist with a variety of art classes and workshops for all ages and abilities while gaining training in best practices in art education.
