Our talented staff will work with you, every step of the way, to ensure an unforgettable experience. From catering to centerpieces, entertainment, to your entrance, we will help make certain every detail is perfect. Whether you are planning a business retreat for 10 or a black-tie gala for 1000, you are sure to find a truly unique atmosphere in our more than 100,000 square feet of event space. Eleven distinctive spaces are available: 

FULL BUILDING Accommodates: up to 1500 guests  * For the full Maryland Science Center experience, with access to all three levels of interactive exhibits— reserved just for your guests.

HARBOR LOBBY Accommodates: 180 seated / 400 standing  * A spectacular three story atrium with magnificent views of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. This space lends itself well to a formal dining experience or a cocktail reception extraordinaire. The room is only limited by your imagination.

UPPER LOBBY Accommodates: 30 seated / 50 standing  * This space ajoins our Harbor Lobby for addtional seating or a small gathering.

ELEMENTS CAFÉ Accommodates: 130 seated / 250 standing  * The perfect space for casual dining, cocktail receptions or any event of your own creation. Overlooking Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, this room provides an intimate setting and a private entrance for you and your guests.

DINOSAUR MYSTERIES Accommodates: up to 300 standing  * A truly unique room for cocktails before dinner, social or corporate gatherings, wherby your guests will be able to socialze in the midst of an interactive exhibit centered around our planet’s prehistoric past.

ST. JOHN PROPERTIES IMAX THEATER Accommodates: 350 seated  * The St. John Properties IMAX Theater is unmatched. With a five-story high screen and stadium style seating, this theater offers a top-notch movie experience for both 2D and 3D films. This space is also an ideal location for a town hall meeting or presentaiton.

PLANETARIUM Accommodates: 140 seated  * The planetarium is an incomparable location for a presentaiton, a star-filled sky for your wedding ceremony—no matter the weather or time of day, or can be used to enhance your event with one of our “out of this world” shows.

LEGG MASON GALLERY Accommodates: up to 300 standing  * This gallery offers fantastic views of the Inner Harbor and downtown Baltimore from Light Street.

MATH IN NATURE Accommodates: 75 seated / 150 standing  * A panoramic view of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor by day and by night a breathtaking vision of Baltimore’s skyline. A wonderful location for cocktail parties, happy hour events, or an intimate dinner.

MSC THEATER Accommodates: 125 seated  * This theater comes equipped with a large screen making it the perfect space for presentations, lectures, or trainings. HARBOR TERRACE Accommodates: 100 seated, 150 standing Terrace adds elegance to any event. With over 2,000 square feet, this area is perfect for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hour events, corporate functions, crab feasts, private dinners, and more.

HARBOR TERRACE ROOM Accommodates: 50 seated  * The Harbor Terrace Room lends itself well to meetings, trainings, and lectures.

Elements Café: Elements Café is open with vending options and a mini market, which includes a variety of * snacks * bottled beverages * fresh sandwiches, and * more.   • Solstice: The Maryland Science Center’s annual fundraiser gala, is held each year to raise funds that support free admission for all Maryland school children and their teachers who visit as part of a field trip during the upcoming school year. Solstice also funds our outreach programs—Traveling Science ProgramReady Set Go Science and Family Science and Family Engineering Nights.

Volunteer: You don’t have to be a scientist or a physicist! If you love to learn and you care about the way we inspire tomorrow’s scientists today—you should consider becoming a Maryland Science Center volunteer! We are always on the lookout for dynamic, curious individuals who want to be a part of our team of volunteers.

  • Volunteer Opportunities For Adults: Whether you decide to serve in one of the many important, non-public roles, and work behind-the-scenes or if you can’t wait to share your knowledge and love of learning with our guests, there is a volunteer role waiting for you!
  • Volunteer opportunities for youth: The Maryland Science Center offers youth volunteer positions for ages 15 – 17. Gain new skills and explore potential career paths, while contributing to the Science Center’s mission to provide the best of informal, hands-on STEM education.
  • Group volunteer opportunities: The Maryland Science Center welcomes groups of volunteers for a day of service! Tasks can be indoors or outdoors, working with our Exhibits, Operations, or Education departments. Please note that project availability may vary; please contact our Volunteer Coordinator as early as possible to discuss options.
