• Become a Friend. the Friends of the Old State Capitol are responsible for lobbying state and local officials to restore this National Historic Landmark. The Friends of the Old State Capitol provide volunteers and docents to assist the 60,000+ people who visit the building each year. The Friends contribute their time, talent and treasure to support the Old State Capitol. They have funded major projects such as a multi-language audio tour and funding for traveling exhibits.

Volunteer: Volunteers are the backbone of the Old State Capitol! We need help from regularly scheduled shifts to folks willing to work on a project-by-project basis.

• Assist at the front desk with the sign in process
• Greet visitors as they enter the building
• Provide guests with exhibit guides
• Provide basic information about the building such as: location of restrooms, gift shop and elevator
• Assist with “The Ghost of the Castle” show and new exhibits
• Answer questions about “hands-on” exhibits
