As a VENUE: Host your event…

The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center offers a unique Nebraskan experience! Show off the history and culture of the Sandhills region to your guests and let us host your next meeting or special event! Our five distinct spaces offer flexibility to suit any need and can often be rented either while the museum is open, or after business hours. 

• The Shelter House has a capacity of 110 guests and comes with 10 tables and 70 chairs.
• Our Gallery can hold 100 people for both social and business events.
• The Banquet Room will host 125 people for a variety of uses.
• Our well appointed Theater can seat 66 and has audio and visual capabilities. 
• The Conference Room is available for non-profit, civic, or educational events only with 20 people or less. 
• Additionally, our kitchen can be added to any rental for an additional fee. 

Hosting a bigger event? We can bundle our Gallery and Banquet Room as one rental to extend capacity to 225 guests. Or rent our entire facility for up to 311 people, which includes the use of the Gallery, Banquet Room, Theater, Conference Room, Kitchen w/chaffers, bar, champagne fountain and flutes, dish and silverware sets.

Be a DONOR: Show that you care…

The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center is an innovative and historical Museum featuring five areas of local history: Life in the Sandhills, Native American Life, Life in the Country, Life in the Town, and The Railroad – which is the last piece of the puzzle to tie these wildly different lifestyles together. The secondary theme of Rogues, Rascals, and Visionaries gives you a look at the personalities that settled the area. 

Pioneer memorabilia, Native American artifacts, and Railroad history are some of the highlights of the Museum’s vast collection. Visitors to the museum can get a glimpse of the life lived by the people who settled in the Nebraska Sandhills. 

Additionally, this Museum is famous for its broad range of genealogy research. The majority of the city and county records, as well as many Western Nebraska records are contained in a digital database and the original forms located in the Museum’s Heritage Room. The Museum also houses a large collection of microfilmed local newspapers, area authors, photos, and genealogical files.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Library had found its home at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. For many years this supplemental collection of valuable resource books languished in obscurity. The quiet space enables you to spend time perusing a marvelous collection that is a great resource for filling out DAR applications or researching general family history. The collection includes several, out of print, volumes. The library is available during regular business hours and staff is on hand for assistance.

The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center is owned and operated by the City of Alliance and is one of the largest museums in Nebraska. Museum admission is always free as are many events held that highlight the area’s rich history. This Museum exists in its current state today because of the invaluable donations made by supporters. All donations to the Museum can be made by getting in touch with museum staff.
