Be a DONORShow that you care…

The Kentucky Museum relies entirely on private donations and sponsors to support our exhibits, programs, and collections. We are free to visit, but it costs $61 per visitor to run the Museum.

You can help us thrive and grow, ensuring we remain free for our campus and community.

Become a member, make a gift to our Annual Fund, learn about Corporate Sponsorship, or inquire about our Major Gift opportunities.

Membership:

Kentucky Museum members provide flexible support to meet our most pressing needs. In thanks, members exclusive benefits. General Membership is $50 per year ($4.17 per month). For those who are underemployed, low-income, or a student at WKU or SKYCTC, membership is $15 per year ($1.25 per month).

Donations:

The Kentucky Museum relies on donors like you to support our exhibits, programs, and collections care. We have several ways you can make a gift, all of which are tax-deductible.

  • Annual Fund: One-time or recurring gifts are welcome to our Annual Fund, which supports our Student Docent program and the growth of the Museum for All Endowment. Secure gifts can be made online.
  • Sponsorships: Exhibitions and programs are often sponsored by businesses and individuals. Additionally, awards and student scholarships and both annual and one-time events welcome funding by sponsors.
  • Endowments & Naming Opportunities
    • Museum for All Fund: Help us build an endowment to provide for our student docent program and continue our free admission program. Begun with a major gift from Marshall Hadden Kemp, we are seeking major gifts to grow the fund to $1,000,000.
    • Quilt Gallery: Offering rotating shows of Kentucky’s second-largest publicly held quilt collection, your gift builds the Henry Clay Quilt Conservation Fund. $150,000 room naming.
    • Kentucky Room: Name one of the most beloved spaces in Bowling Green, while helping us refresh and restore the space and its adjoining stairwells. $450,000 room naming.
    • Endowed Director: Name our Museum Director position and provide annual support for the Museum’s Director, currently held by Brent Bjorkman. $1,000,000 endowment goal.
    • Restoration and Renewal: Renovation Funds, to support restoration and upgrading of facilities to meet best practices in museum accessibility, energy management, and sustainability.
    • Education Fund: The Museum Education Fund is an endowment to provide annual support for educational and community programs.
    • Collections Endowment Growth: The Collections Endowment provides annual support for the care, conservation, and acquisition of art and artifacts from Kentucky’s history and contemporary culture.
  • Object Donation: We Are Collecting! The Kentucky Museum is especially interested in acquiring: * historic clothing & textiles, especially * quilts * political memorabilia * toys & games, and fine * folk & decorative arts. The Kentucky Museum Collections Committee reviews potential donations to see if they meet our criteria for acceptance.
  • Adopt-a-Quilt: The Quilt Collection is composed of more than 330 quilts and quilt-related textiles, with examples from the late 18th to early 21st century. The collection is among the most exhibited, researched, and utilized at the Museum, and is the spotlight of the much-anticipated exhibition, Stitches in Time. Quilts pose challenges in care and conservation. Their size and composition require the use of acid-free boxes and tissue to store them, ensuring they remain in the best possible condition. Will you help us preserve this nationally significant collection?

Volunteer:  Volunteers needed in the Education, Exhibits, Collections, and Administrative departments.  In broad terms, our volunteer opportunities are either single event, or ongoing (volunteer would work with unit head to establish a weekly volunteer schedule).
