Along the banks of the Ohio River just north of Henderson, KY, John James Audubon State Park houses the world’s largest collection of Audubon artifacts and offers exhibits on the artist’s life. Let the art of America’s premier 19th-century naturalist accent your next group function with 3 distinct venue spaces. The Friend of Audubon Room is 1500 square feet and can accommodate 150 for a banquet or reception, 80 for a classroom, or 140 for a theater style setup; the Museum Gardens can seat 400 in a banquet or reception arrangement; and the Theater Room holds 47 people.

Weddings: Your wedding day is one of the most memorable and special days of your life and the John James Audubon State Park offers breathtaking views, unbridled hospitality and a romantic destination for your rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony or reception.

Corporate or Government Functions: The conference room at John James Audubon combines an incredible outdoor environment with a museum, art gallery and nature center. The 1,556, square foot conference room can accommodate 200 guests lecture-style without tables and 80-110 people classroom style with tables. For a unique experience, schedule the Challenge Course, a combination of activities designed to develop self-confidence and team awareness.  

Retreats: State Parks are removed from the everyday hustle and bustle and provide the space and atmosphere to recharge, re-affirm and rejuvenate.

The John James Audubon State Park Museum Store offers many nature-inspired products and items for the Audubon enthusiast. Many of our items are Kentucky-crafted products such as * jewelry * Kentucky Bourbon cakes * wood crafts * candles * teas * candy, and * soaps and lotions. We also sell Audubon prints * books * toys and puzzles * stationery , and * souvenirs. Gift cards are available for purchase and may be used at all Kentucky State Parks. All items are available in person at the Museum Store. The only online offering is for limited edition restrike prints from the museum’s original copper plate – see more information in the Donation section below.

Be a DONOR: Show that you care…

Friends of Audubon is a non-profit organization established to enhance the public’s enjoyment and understanding of the natural wonders of John James Audubon Park and the artistic and cultural treasures housed in the Museum. The Museum is home to one of the largest collections of materials from the wildlife artist and naturalist. There are more than 1,000 items in the collection and many of them are on display. 

There is a constant need for money to maintain the works of art, to ensure they are properly displayed and cared for, and to develop and produce programs and exhibits in the Nature Center. Your gift to the Friends of Audubon goes directly to the betterment of the Museum, the Nature Center and the park.

Membership

Show your support by becoming a member of Friends of Audubon. Membership Levels include: * Hummingbird * Bluebird * Cardinal * Robin * Hawk * Owl, and * Pelican.

Donation

Donations to Friends of Audubon will go towards art conservation, general funds, museum acquisitions, trail maintenance, and wetlands. Consider donating by specifying the General Art Conservation Fund – the Museum Curator will use your donation toward the adoption of the highest priority conservation pieces. Donations at specific amounts are designated and you may customize your gifts. Recurring gifts are encouraged. Memorial and Tribute gifts are welcomed.

The Friends of Audubon assist the Museum in acquiring important Audubon art and artifacts for its collection. Among the more significant acquisitions are two very rare engraving plates used in the production of The Birds of America and an oil painting of John James Audubon’s little daughter, Lucy. Restrikes from the engraving are available for purchase at the Museum. All proceeds from restrike sales are used for art conservation. 

These restrikes are being offered by the Friends of Audubon for a minimum donation of $1,000 with the proceeds designated for the conservation of the museum collection and new acquisitions. A charitable donation certificate in the amount of $500 will be issued for each restrike purchased. Any additional donation for the print in excess of the $1,000 will also be recognized as a charitable contribution to this worthy cause.

Adopt-an-Artwork

The purpose of the Adopt-an-Artwork program is to address the declining state of a number of significant objects in the collection through immediate care and professional preservation. The program is supported by compassionate individuals who want to see these important pieces preserved for future generations. Many items in our collection are the only item of its kind in the world. If not properly preserved now, the world will lose a piece of Audubon’s story forever.

As part of the adoption process, you will be recognized with a plaque hung under the adopted piece when on display in the Museum gallery and receive a color photo of your adopted artwork. Please know that you don’t have to adopt an artwork on your own. You and your friends, family, company or other interested parties may jointly adopt an artwork.

Donations to the Collection

Artifact donations will be carefully evaluated for consideration in our collection. Generally, we collect items that directly relate to the lives and work of John James Audubon and his family as well as materials that chronicle the history of John James Audubon State Park. The formats of these items include, but are not limited to, photographs, manuscripts, prints and drawings, paintings, newspaper clippings, books, ephemera, and artifacts.
