Founded in 1989 to promote heritage tourism, Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing and celebrating the finest Historic Hotels. Historic Hotels of America has identified hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture, and ambiance. To be nominated and selected for membership into this prestigious program, a hotel must be: * at least 50 years old * has been designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and * recognized as having historic significance.

  • Historic Hotels of America has more than 315 historic hotels that have all faithfully maintained their authenticity, sense of place, and architectural integrity in the United States of America, including 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
  • Members of Historic Hotels of America have played host to every type of event, from * meetings that have forever influenced national and world events to intimate * weddings, and * family reunions. Membership

Members of the National Trust for Historic Preservation save up to 30% off the Best Available Rate at participating Historic Hotels (subject to availability and advance reservation). If you are not a member, you will receive a complimentary one-year storyteller membership to the National Trust for Historic Preservation when you book your hotel accommodations through our website.

Leadership Giving

Leadership supporters join a passionate community of individuals dedicated to making our lives better and our communities stronger by saving the places that shape the American experience. They invest $1,000 or more per year to help the National Trust save the past and enrich the future, so that all Americans can live, work, worship, and play in strong, vibrant places enriched by a sense of history. Leadership giving levels include: * President’s Circle* Chairman’s Circle, and the * National Trust Council.

It’s because of the passion and dedication of our advocates and supporters that the National Trust for Historic Preservation is able to save hundreds of historic places each year.
