OUR MISSION

We are a nonprofit advocacy organization committed to ending intimate partner abuse in families and the community. Our shelter in rural Fayette County, Kentucky is surrounded by a beautiful 40-acre property. We farm this land to offer nature-based healing, nutritious field-to-table produce, and job training for survivors.

Nurturing lives harmed by intimate partner abuse: The process of making the following products encourages collaborative work and economic opportunity in a safe and caring environment for survivors of intimate partner abuse. We are Kentucky Proud!

• Flowers For Events: Your flower purchase supports nature-based healing opportunities on the farm that surrounds our emergency shelter for survivors and their children. Our farm is supported by research related to healing outcomes of therapeutic gardens and “social farming” as a means to promote healing and community networks in rural areas. The farm also provides job training and micro-enterprise opportunities for survivors, while raising funding to support our mission. Your purchase of fresh-cut flowers from our farm supports survivors of intimate partner abuse during their journey of safety and self-sufficiency. Please review the information about event flowers from our farm before submitting a request for an estimate. Our small farm can only fulfill a limited number of event flower orders during our flower growing season. Flowers are provided ready for do-it-yourself arranging.
  • Flowers grown on our farm are local and seasonal. Colors and varieties change throughout the summer. Examples of the most prolific flowers on our farm include: * Ageratum * Celosia * Cosmos * Gomphrena * Rudbeckia * Sunflowers, and * Zinnia. We do not grow roses.
  • Although not USDA certified, we use organic fertilizers and pesticides derived from natural sources. Drip irrigation and hand labor reduces our farm’s carbon footprint, and the crops we plant provide a habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects. Little bug bites on leaves here and there are a reminder that we only use sustainable and responsible practices on our farm.

Donation

Donations at specified amounts are designated or you may customize your gifts. Recurring gifts are encouraged. You may donate on behalf of a business, organization, or in memory, honor, or tribute to a special person or occasion.

Volunteer: Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Online registrations facilitate your participation in a variety of opportunities. We’re grateful for the time and talent every person, group, and company that gives. The efforts of volunteers expand our capacity to foster safety and healing for survivors of intimate partner abuse. Opportunities to help at our emergency shelter and farm are offered monthly. Individuals and groups can also give through remote projects that collect much-needed goods and remind survivors that our community cares about their well-being.

Wish List:  Although we can’t accept the donation of used goods at our shelter, your donation of new supplies will make such a difference in the lives of survivors. Typically needed items include the following:

  • Lotion
  • Sports Bras and Regular Bras in all cup sizes

  • 55-60 gallon trash bags

Holiday Gift Drive For Survivors: Your generous donation of new, unwrapped gifts will make spirits brighter! We will be the only source of holiday support for more than 100 adults and children fleeing abuse this season.
