As a VENUEHost your event…

Looking for a special place to host your private event? The Frontier Culture Museum is pleased to be able to rent spaces to guests for use with their own privately hosted special events, and the success of each and every event held on site is important to the Museum. Our Private Events staff boasts many years of experience in event planning and execution, and we are excited to be able to help make sure your event is truly an exceptional one. We offer an attractive array of venues suitable for a wide range of functions such as: * weddings * cocktail receptions * luncheons * board meetings * staff retreats * and, * company picnics, just to name a few. Our spaces range from rustic to contemporary and cozy to spacious, all of which are unique settings for unforgettable memories to be made. Four distinctive rental spaces are offered:

  • Lee S. Cochran Pavilion: The Lee S. Cochran Pavilion is a very special setting with easy access and a beautiful panoramic view overlooking the Museum and Valley beyond. The open-air pavilion has space to expand and is equipped with drop-down tent sides, setting the stage for a truly memorable event. It is a space for any occasion.
  • Octagonal Barn: The Octagonal Barn is a unique, eight-sided, 1908 two-story barn with modern conveniences and an elegant, rustic feel. With direct access from the parking lot, the barn is located slightly farther away from the bustle within the Museum. It has been a popular site for smaller weddings, rehearsal dinners and reunions.
  • Lecture Hall: The Lecture Hall is located in our converted Dairy Barn that also houses our Education and Research Center and is fully climate controlled. It is great for conferences, workshops, and business meetings.
  • Education Studio: Available for birthday parties, share your special day with us at the Frontier Culture Museum! Choose from two birthday party packages and add on a program to make your party a truly unique experience.

Support Your Frontier Culture Museum!

Donations:

Donate to the American Frontier Culture Foundation. The AFCF is a non-profit organization that provides the Museum with resources for illuminating teacher education programs, entertaining lectures, workshops, special programs and much needed school field trips to the Museum. It also supports current and new permanent and temporary exhibits, the acquisition and reconstruction of historic buildings, the reproduction of historic buildings and furnishings, and the preservation of historic buildings and artifacts at the Frontier Culture Museum.

  • Meredith Furr Summer Camp Scholarship Fund: Every year, the Frontier Culture Museum hosts hundreds of kids for week long summer camps. Our camps are fun and educational, and offer the kind of adventure kids will long remember. Sadly, too many kids don’t experience our summer camp because their families can’t afford to send them. By donating to the fund, you open the world of the Frontier Culture Museum for a child to learn and grow.
  • Emily Noble Day Summer Camp Scholarship Fund: Emily had an affinity for children, and she saw the impact of her work interacting with them during the summer camps that run for 8 weeks every year. Her family has established the Emily Noble Day Summer Camp Scholarship Fund to provide children that cannot afford the fee, the opportunity to enjoy the many educational activities at the Museum’s outdoor exhibits. The Museum’s summer camps give children the chance to enjoy nature, to exercise, and to thrive in the company of other kids their age. The scholarship fund allows children the opportunity to experience all the museum offers and perhaps will inspire the next generation of museum staff.
  • Donate Securities
  • The Shenandoah Society: You are invited to join our Shenandoah Society of distinguished donors with a contribution of $1,000 or greater.
  • The Frontier Legacy Society: We rely greatly on the generous and forward-thinking supporters who have remembered the American Frontier Culture Museum in their wills. These supporters become members of the Frontier Legacy Society. The Frontier Legacy Society initiative offers you and your family an opportunity to create a lasting legacy throughout your lifetime. Further, an estate plan gift assures that the accomplishments of your lifetime will continue well into the future. Truly, a gift such as this is one that will keep on giving, and for such a worthwhile purpose.
    • Bequests: Donate to the American Frontier Culture Foundation through your will or living trust. Your attorney can include it when you prepare or revise your will or you can add a codicil at any time. A bequest can be unrestricted, enabling the Foundation to direct your funds where future need is greatest, or restricted for a particular program or purpose. A bequest is the most common and easiest to plan of our Frontier Legacy Society gifts.
    • Endowed Gifts: When you establish an endowment, you make a gift to us that will last forever while also realizing tax benefits for your kindness. When you make an endowed gift, only a small portion of your gift will be spent, allowing the remaining amount to continue growing. That portion of your gift will supplement our programs forever. You can give cash, securities or other assets to an endowment you create or contribute to our organization’s already established endowment.
    • Beneficiary Designations: Continue supporting our work even after your lifetime by naming us as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance or insurance annuity assets.

Volunteer: There are many opportunities to volunteer at the Frontier Culture Museum, including helping to staff special events, driving electric shuttles, or even volunteering to staff historic exhibits (costumes are optional).
