Gather at the Enfield Shaker Museum. Rustic and elegant, picturesque and uniquely diverse, our charming, historic multi-building site is perfect for your special event or celebration! With indoor and outdoor options, we can accommodate everything from small intimate gatherings to full destination * wedding weekends, including * slumber parties * silent movie screenings * concerts * performances * craft retreats * meditation and * yoga retreats * music camps * academic forums, and * more. The Enfield Shaker Museum offers charming space for individual or group, short or long-term overnight stays. Nestled between Mt. Assurance and Lake Mascoma, the impressive six-story Great Stone Dwelling has 20 spacious Overnight Rooms on its 3rd and 4th floors. Each Overnight Room, fashioned from the Shakers Brothers and Sisters original “Retiring Rooms,” features authentic Shaker architecture, original built-ins and reproduction Shaker furniture, including a desk and seating furniture. Each room has a private bathroom. Five distinctive event spaces are offered:

  • The Great Stone Dwelling: The jewel of the Enfield Shaker Community, the Great Stone Dwelling is home to the Dining Room, Meeting Room, and our 20 Guest Rooms. Built in 1837, the six-story Dwelling features authentic Shaker architecture and design. The exterior is comprised of intricate historic stonework and features over 150 windows. Clean, bright and welcoming, the build’s interior has classic Shaker style, featuring hardwood floors, many large windows with interior shutters, and Shaker peg rail. Its restored original Shaker interiors provides a unique architectural backdrop to your big day. The understated simplicity of the Shaker style throughout the Great Stone Dwelling makes for a classically beautiful look. On the first floor, you will find the Dining Room and the Kitchen. We have a restaurant-style kitchen equipped for large parties. On the second floor, you will find the Meeting Room. Both the Dining Room and Meeting Room are popular locations for receptions, parties, workshops and meetings.
  • Meeting Room in the Great Stone Dwelling: The Meeting Room, located on the Great Stone Dwelling’s second floor, is our most popular reception space. It features large windows, rustic chandelier lighting, and lovely pine floors for dancing. Meeting Room rentals include tables, reproduction Shaker chairs, linens, and full place settings. With just over 2,000 square feet, it can be set up in a myriad of floorplans for retreats, conferences, presentations or workshops. The Meeting Room can accommodate up to 125 guests.
  • Dining Room in the Great Stone Dwelling: On the first floor of the Great Stone Dwelling, the Dining Room is the perfect setting for more intimate gatherings, including smaller wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, breakfasts with guests the morning after, seated meals, and smaller gatherings. The Dining Room may also be used as a spot for a cocktail hour. It features beautiful, dark-stained reproduction Enfield Dining Room tables and chairs that can accommodate up to 80 seated or 100 standing guests. All day events often use the Meeting Room for conference space and the Dining Room for meal breaks.
  • Guest Rooms in the Great Stone Dwelling: Make your wedding a weekend event! The Museum offers 20 Guest Rooms with 35 queen-size beds (total) on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Great Stone Dwelling. Each well-appointed room has original Shaker architecture, reproduction Shaker furniture, and a private bath. For couples who choose to have a reception at the Enfield Shaker Museum, an overnight stay in the Bridal Suite is complimentary.
  • The Stone Mill: The Stone Mill, the perfect venue for a rustic but elegant, shabby-chic barn styled wedding, features beautiful fieldstone-work walls inside and out, as well as exposed wooden beam work. Located across the road from the Great Stone Dwelling/Mary Keane Chapel and adjacent to a large field and picturesque hillside, it has hardwood floors and 21-foot-high ceilings with beautiful exposed wood beams. This building can accommodate a dining and dancing area for up to 100 guests, and makes a lovely ceremony or cocktail hour venue as well. It also offers an easy rain location for outdoor weddings in the lawns or fields adjacent to the Stone Mill. This building’s 2200 square feet can be set up to your liking, and it is popular for both sit-down parties and as a ‘Cocktail Hour’ location. Its rustic interior can also be used for workshops or as a home base for outdoor activities – There are multiple trails leading into NH Fish and Game land easily accessible from the Stone Mill.
  • The Mary Keane Chapel: The Mary Keane Chapel is an exceptionally unique gem nestled into the Shaker Village site, built by La Salette Catholic order in the late 1920s. The traditional architecture in this building features Italian pink marble and exquisite German stained glass. This is an awe-inspiring ceremony space and can accommodate up to 150 guests seated in the pews.

  • Planned Giving: During our lifetimes, we support those institutions that reflect our values and beliefs. But what about after we’re gone?     • Storage: Enfield Shaker Museum stores a portion of its collection at any given time. Secure, climate controlled storage facilities and equipment are essential.
    • Conservation: Historic objects require expert care and sometimes repair or restoration.
    • Exhibitions: Exhibitions require security, lighting, display pieces, temperature and humidity control.
  • Corporate Support: Become a Corporate Partner. Corporate Partners contribute funds and in-kind gifts to Enfield Shaker Museum. This mutually beneficial partnership sustains Museum operations and programs while giving visibility and recognition to corporations for supporting the Museum. We have opportunities to increase your company visibility all year long.
    • Event Sponsorship: You can promote your business to Enfield Shaker Museum’s visitors and members by becoming an event sponsor.  Sponsorships start at just $250 and provide support for our annual events as well as benefits for you and your employees.
    • Exhibition Sponsorship: Each year exhibitions are developed using our collections as well as loans from other distinguished museums.  Corporate exhibition sponsors gain visibility through our print and online marketing materials, social media, and our quarterly newsletter.
    • Fundraising Activities and Events: Every year Enfield Shaker Museum organizes several fundraising activities to benefit the Museum.  Each of these activities offers opportunities for corporate support either as a financial sponsor or by providing auction items.

Volunteer: We Couldn’t Do It Without Our Volunteers! Volunteers play an essential role at Enfield Shaker Museum. Almost 200 volunteers from all across New England help us fulfill our mission through more than 5,000 hours of service annually. Whatever your interest or background, we have opportunities for your special talents, including: gardening, administrative support, educational programs, fundraising events, historic preservation, landscaping, governance, publicity, and more! Volunteers enjoy the benefits of on-site educational opportunities, shop discounts, free admission, recognition and new friendships. Training and support are provided. Hours and days are flexible.
