DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families. Every year, DAV assists more than a million veterans by helping them access the benefits they’ve earned. DAV helps veterans to achieve personal victories, great and small, such as being able to provide for their families, overcome homelessness, finish their education, access vital funds and even gather together with their fellow veterans to share good times. DAV‘s services are offered at no cost to all generations of veterans, their families and survivors.
DAV is also a leader in connecting veterans with meaningful employment, hosting job fairs and providing resources to ensure they have the opportunity to participate in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible.
DAV‘s National Legislative Department takes the resolutions adopted by DAV members at our annual National Conventions to Congress to advocate for improved federal laws, regulations and policies of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal agencies whose programs support the veteran population.
With over 1,200 chapters and more than 1 million members across the country, DAV empowers our nation’s heroes and their families by helping to provide the resources they need and ensuring our nation keeps the promises made to them.

Joining DAV is your way to stay in the fight. As a DAV Member, in addition to our programs and free services, you are entitled to Member Advantages, which gives you access to a variety of important programs, products and services. Also included with your membership is a FREE subscription to DAV Magazine. Lifetime membership is offered, and for veterans 80 and older, membership is free.

- Vehicle Donation: Donating is a great way to get rid of an old or extra vehicle. The process is easy, and we provide free and convenient pick-up. DAV strives to accept any vehicle – cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, airplanes, heavy equipment, farm machinery, and most other motorized vehicles – in all fifty states, running or not.

- Gift Planning: Leave a legacy of caring by including DAV in your estate and financial plans. When you include DAV in your estate plan, your generosity helps us empower veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

- DAV 5K: The DAV 5K is a walk, roll, run, and ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day. There are two ways to participate, join in-person in Cincinnati or virtually from anywhere.
- Face-to-Face Fundraising: Since the Fall of 2021, DAV has been executing canvassing campaigns in the Tampa, FL, Nashville, TN, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, San Antonio, TX, San Diego, CA, and Cincinnati, OH / Northern Kentucky markets. Each year DAV expands their reach and adds new markets. The teams also make road trips throughout the year to many other markets. The canvassing teams execute a boots-on-the-ground program outside of retail establishments to share information about how DAV supports our nation’s disabled veterans.
- Field of Flags: DAV’s Field of Flags empowers our community to set up fields of American flags, all to honor local veterans and raise critical funds to support our ill and injured heroes. Each flag in the Field of Flags honors a different hero.
- Corporate Partnerships: Join DAV in supporting our nation’s injured veterans who sacrificed so much to protect us. We offer a variety of engagement opportunities to meet your company’s marketing, philanthropic, and corporate social responsibility goals. DAV can partner with you to fulfill your objectives and can scale with your organization, whether nationally or regionally focused.
- Qualified Charitable Distributions/IRA Rollover Gifts
- Real Estate Donation: Donating real estate to support DAV and veterans is fast and easy! The proceeds from your property donation allow DAV to continue providing lifetime support for veterans of all generations and their families. This program takes any property type (land, homes, commercial) in any location so long as there is equity. Even if you owe back taxes, have a mortgage balance or have deferred maintenance, it’s no problem. DAV will pay off all loans, liens, commissions owed and all closing costs. If you have a real estate asset that is costing you money or not being utilized, donating it is a great way to give back. You may even claim a significant tax deduction!
- Commemorative Brick: Reserve a commemorative brick in DAV’s Honor Garden for a veteran or someone in your life. You have the opportunity to purchase a commemorative brick which can be inscribed in honor or in memory of a veteran of your choosing, featuring their name and service branch, or you can etch your brick with an everlasting message. The bricks will line the Honor Garden walkways, at DAV’s national headquarters, serving as a living monument to the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.
Volunteer: DAV offers a wide range of opportunities to assist our nation’s heroes. Volunteer to transport veterans to and from their VA medical appointments, help at a VA facility or assist veterans in your local community. No matter who you are, or what your level of experience, you can volunteer to help our nation’s veterans.
