As a VENUEHost your events…

Whether planning a: * wedding * reception * bar or bat mitzvah * a private party * or a huge corporate event, look no further than City Museum for an exciting and memorable venue. The unique character of the museum ensures that your guests will have an outstanding experience. Flexible rental scenarios, the ability to accommodate parties of almost any size, and the option to rent the entire museum present various solutions for virtually any event. Four distinctive rental spaces are offered:

  • First Floor and Mezzanine: Within the First Floor and Mezzanine levels lies an oceanic wonderland seating 100 people. Mermaids and sea creatures swirl around the mosaic floors and columns. The cloud-like ceiling creates a dreamy atmosphere. A triple level tree stage and dance floor area are perfect for a band, presentation or champagne toast! Native Missouri fish and turtles swim in the 5,000-gallon aquarium ornamented with oyster shells, found sea glass and mosaic tiles. Above the first-floor mosaics and aquarium, the mezzanine level overlooks the colorful space and includes many more exciting nooks and crannies to explore.
    • Venue capacity is 100 seated, 200 standing.
  • Vault Room: Named after the enormous double vault doors and salvaged safety deposit boxes that adorn its walls, the Vault Room is bedecked with historical St. Louis relics and a kaleidoscopic, awe-inspiring hallway of mirrors, and a marble bar. The Vault Room is especially beautiful for evening events. As light filters through the wall of vintage Vess soda bottles and twinkling lights dangle from the ceiling. The whimsical, unexpected details of City Museum‘s Vault Room are sure to make every event unforgettable.
    • Venue capacity is 200 seated and 300 standing.
  • Architectural Hall: Beautifully framed by the exterior of the Edward Bates School from the near north side of St. Louis, this unique, elegant space houses a fascinating mix of salvaged architectural pieces. An ornate, turn-of-the-century bar and a permanent, hardwood dance floor provide a stylish setting for any elegant event.
    • Venue capacity is 300 seated and 400 standing.
  • Cabin Inn & Patio: The Cabin Inn is a frontier log cabin from the early 19th century that now stands proudly underneath MonstroCity at City Museum. Once home to the son of Daniel Boone, the Cabin was later purchased by the Hezel Family, who owned the cabin for over 100 years. In the mid-1990s, the cabin was transported from its original site on a Missouri farm to its present location at City Museum. The Cabin Inn can either be enjoyed indoors or on our spacious brick patio (weather permitting) surrounded by the mystifying skies of MonstroCity. Whether you prefer to sit inside or out, the Cabin Inn will beckon you to pull up a chair and stay awhile!
    • Venue capacity is 40 seated and 65 standing.

As an EATERYFood for thought…

Eat, Drink & Be Merry! Like the installations and many of the exhibits in City Museum, our drinking and dining choices are generally idiosyncratic and mostly locally-flavored. St. Louis has been a world beer capital since Prohibition was abolished and over the past decade has developed a national reputation among foodies. There are eight drinking and dining options on every floor… even the roof.

  • Cabin Inn: The 19th-century cabin holds a full bar serving wine slushies and a wide selection of beer and spirits. Open year-round.
  • Patio Grill: The grill is located just outside the Cabin Inn near the ball pit and offers selections for both vegetarian and carnivore guests.
  • Mezz Café: This family/group-friendly deli offers St. Louis thin crust brick oven pizza, fresh salads, and sandwiches. Open year-round.
  • Cop Out: This pop-up café inside the Vault Room offers the usual carnival fare including nachos, popcorn, and Bavarian pretzels. You can also snag a cheeseburger, hot dog, Dippin Dots, and a variety of novelty ice cream options. Icees and other frozen non-alcoholic drinks are also available. Open when it’s open.
  • Beatnik Bob’s: This café offers grilled cheese, hot dogs, house-made Vegan chili, and a range of St. Louis specialty foods and beverages from local businesses. There’s a full bar, specialty cocktails, and an extensive local beer selection.
  • Circus Café: This window outside the circus ring offers cotton candy, popcorn, pretzels, Dippin Dots, and other circus snacks.
  • The Overflow: This quiet space located next to the St Louis Art Center offers wine slushies, a full coffee bar, 5 different draft beers, and a select variety of snacks.
  • Rooftop Café: This cafe offers your usual sodas and slushies. The boozy menu 4Hands Brewing Co.’s City Museum pilsner and other domestics.
