Help ensure the continued success of the Barrier Islands Center and their mission to preserve and perpetuate the unique culture and history of Virginia’s Barrier Islands through education and the collection and interpretation of artifacts.

Membership

• Your choice to become a member of the Barrier Islands Center plays an essential role in our work to communicate the unique history of the Barrier Islands and its distinctive place along Virginia’s Eastern Shore. You join a community that honors the past by sharing stories, preserving artifacts and traditions, and providing educational programs for the curious of all ages. Quite simply, your membership for a year guarantees our success for generations to come: * One-Time and * Sustaining Memberships are available.
• Become an Art & Music on the Farm Sponsor: Help bring Art & Music on the Farm to life on May 23 at the Barrier Islands Center. Sponsorship support makes it possible to create an evening filled with art, music, fellowship, and celebration, while also advancing the Center’s mission to preserve and share the rich culture and history of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Sponsorship levels include: * Main Stage * Patron of the Arts * Music Workshop, and * Friend of the Arts. 
• Preserve: The BIC is pleased to consider your authentic artifact or photo from the Barrier Islands as a gift or loan to the museum. While we are unable to accept every item due to limited space, we would love to learn more about any artifact you might have – as well as the stories behind them. Please contact us to discuss your artifact.
• Annual Appeal: Your generosity enables the Barrier Islands Center to simultaneously honor the past and educate future generations by supporting our production of premier programming, films, books, and museum exhibits. Community support helps maintain the Almshouse Farm’s historic buildings, which are used year-round in this living, breathing place. Your BIC support reaches all ages on the Eastern Shore, and beyond. Thank you for believing in and participating in our mission to preserve and perpetuate the culture and history of Virginia’s barrier islands through education. Appeal levels include: * One-time Annual and * Sustaining Annual.
• Tribute Gift: Give a gift in honor or memory of friends and family, especially when donations are requested in lieu of gifts. Supporting the Barrier Islands Center connects the past with the future and is an especially meaningful way to celebrate special occasions and remember loved ones.

• Give to the Annual Fund: Won’t you please make a tax-deductible contribution today – and ensure that the BIC can continue to be your vital community resource? Any size gift will make a difference.
• Memorial & Honorary Gifts: Give a gift in memory or honor of a loved one. Honor or memorialize your loved one with a thoughtful gift that will give back to the community. An acknowledgement letter will be sent to the honoree or family of the person you have chosen to memorialize.
• Gifts of Stock or Assets: The BIC is pleased to accept your gift of stock. For other gifts (real estate, car, boat, etc.), please contact the BIC to discuss your gift and determine whether the BIC is able to accept.
• Legacy Gifts: Make a real and lasting impact! You’ll be in excellent company in our Legacy Society, and you will ensure that these precious stories and traditions will be preserved for generations to come.

Share Your Story: Do you have an interesting first-hand story about life on the Barrier Islands? We’d love to hear it! Do you know someone who tales about those good ol’ days out on the islands? Ask them to share! We want to make sure that generations of children and grandchildren can continue to learn about their past.

Volunteer: BIC values community volunteers willing to help out at events and gatherings and for general help in the gift shop, back office, museum collections or on the grounds.

Student Community Service: The BIC relies on student volunteers to make our annual events (Oyster Roast, Art & Music on the Farm) a success. BIC also has opportunities throughout the year for students to gain community service hours.

Internships: BIC offers limited paid and for-credit summer and school-year internship opportunities for qualified high school, college, and graduate students.
