Donation

Did you know that Ashland has been privately owned and operated by a nonprofit for nearly 100 years? With no State or Federal funding, we rely on supporters like you to keep Ashland a true community treasure.

Ashland stands as a beacon of history, culture, and community. Your donation plays a vital role in preserving this National Landmark and ensuring its legacy thrives for generations to come. By supporting Ashland, you help maintain the estate’s historic beauty, fund educational programs, and contribute to our mission of fostering meaningful dialogue and civic engagement.

With your generosity, we can continue to expand our efforts in preservation, education, and community building—making Ashland not only a place to learn from the past but a cornerstone for shaping a brighter future. Donations at specific amounts are designated and you may customize your gifts. Recurring gifts are encouraged. Memorial and Tribute gifts are welcomed. Additional options for donation include:

  • Planned Giving Options: Through our partnership with Blue Grass Community Foundation, you can make a lasting impact through Planned Giving. Whether through a bequest in your will, a charitable trust, or gifts of stock and retirement assets, there are many ways to support Ashland’s future while maximizing tax benefits. Let us help you find a giving strategy that aligns with your legacy and ensures that Ashland remains a vibrant part of the community for years to come.
  • The Henry Clay Society is an exclusive donor recognition circle honoring the visionary individuals and institutions who advance the mission of the Henry Clay Foundation. These leaders ensure Ashland remains a beacon of statesmanship, education, and civic virtue.
  • Adopt A Tree: The Ashland Arboretum is home to over 600 trees and 44 species. Maintaining these trees is no small feat. Each year we select trees that need the most maintenance and tag them for adoption by the community. By adopting a tree, you pay for its maintenance for the year and ensure that it thrives at Ashland for years to come.
  • Second Century Fund: April 2026 marks 100 years of the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation’s existence. To celebrate, the Foundation is introducing the Second Century Fund. This strategic initiative will ensure Ashland continues to serve as a vibrant center for education, history, and civic engagement. The Fund empowers Ashland to expand public access, foster civic engagement, and position itself as a national leader in historic interpretation, education, and community dialogue. From on-site innovation to digital reach across the world, Ashland’s next century will not merely honor history — it will activate it.
