As a VENUE: Host your event…

Nestled in Federal Hill near the beautiful Inner Harbor, the American Visionary Art Museum is a unique and exciting venue for your special event. Three historic buildings and two sculpture plazas house artwork, and the buildings themselves are award-winning designs. From an intimate dinner party to a large-scale reception, we look forward to hosting you. Four distinctive spaces are available:

  • Jim Rouse Visionary Center: Three enchanting floors: The 3rd floor banquet room in the Jim Rouse Visionary Center (JRVC) can seat up to 400 for dinner and dancing, and includes staging, screen and projector, and a warming pantry for your caterer. Ceremonies for up to 250 guests can be held in the 1st floor or 3rd floor banquet room. For 250-400 guests, choose from the JRVC 3rd & 1st Fl or JRVC + Sculpture Barn package.
    • Third Floor Banquet Room Capacity: 400 guests
  • Sculpture Garden and Barn: Our Tall Sculpture Barn & Wildflower Garden can accommodate up to 130 guests for the ceremony and reception, and is available late March – Thanksgiving. Ceremonies can be held in the Garden, its patio, or the Barn. This indoor/outdoor space is equipped with large space heaters and fans for a magical, open air atmosphere on your wedding day.
    • Capacity: Seated Dinner – 130 guests / Cocktail Reception – 250+ guests
  • Museum Café: Light-filled with sweeping views, the restaurant on the top floor of the main museum building can seat up to 50 guests for dinner or 110 for a standing cocktail event. Additional space is available on the large outdoor terrace, weather permitting. Perfect for holiday parties, VIP dinners or cocktail hours.
    • Capacity: Seated Dinner – 65 guests / Cocktail Reception – 100 guests

As an EATERY: Food for thought…

Museum Café: The restaurant on the top floor of the Main Building seats up to 50 guests for dinner or 110 for a standing cocktail. Additional space is available on the large outdoor terrace, weather permitting. Perfect for holiday parties, VIP dinners or cocktail hours. The café can be rented for up to 4 hours plus 2 hours prior for set up and one hour after for breakdown and includes: tables and chairs; venue manager and museum security; and access to designated exhibits for all of your guests. Additional hours are offered. Music is limited to background only. All events must start at or after 5pm, and conclude by 11pm (Fri & Sat) or 10pm (Sun-Thu). The cafe is not available on Mondays and Tuesdays. The staircase and the 2nd floor of our Main Museum Building are not available from Labor Day-2nd week of October.

Give to the Annual Fund: The American Visionary Art Museum‘s Annual Fund is the life-blood of the museum. The Annual Fund allows us to bring you our award-winning exhibitions, innovative educational vision, and enlightening, thought-provoking, and entertaining public programming, and keep the lights on. Annual Fund donors are a vital part of our success! Memorial and tribute gifts are also welcomed.

  • Donations at specified amounts are designated or you may customize your gift.
  • Matching Gifts: Many companies enable your donation to go further through an employee match program. Check with your employer today to see if it offers a matching gift program, to truly maximize your gift.
  • Legacy Giving: Regardless of the size of your estate, a legacy gift can secure the museum for future generations. We can share gift planning ideas that will benefit you and your family, while creating a lasting impact at our national museum. The different types of gifts include outright bequests, life income plans (charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts), charitable lead trusts, gifts of life insurance policies, and gifts of tangible personal property and art.
  • Sponsorship: AVAM partners with major corporations, foundations, and individuals to present original exhibitions, public programs, educational activities, and more.   • (RAH Visionary Fund: (Rebecca Alban Hoffberger Visionary Exhibition Fund) Recognizing the indelible contribution and impact of American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) Founder, Executive Director, and Primary Curator Rebecca Alban Hoffberger, the AVAM Board of Directors has established the Rebecca Alban Hoffberger Visionary Exhibition Fund to secure her enduring legacy of creating and launching thematic exhibitions at the museum, showcasing intuitive artists and visionaries of all kinds.
