Donations ensure that programs at both museums ignite the imagination, engage the mind, and inspire a love of history. Every donation is a meaningful investment in our mission.
- Annual Fund: Gifts designated to the Annual Fund allow the museum to continue serving our community and may be used however needed the most in support of the museum’s mission (Impact Funds). Donations at specified amounts are designated or you may customize your gifts. You may donate on behalf of a business, organization, or in memory, honor, or tribute to a special person or occasion. Recurring gifts are greatly appreciated. Employer matched gifts are welcomed.
- Planned Giving: Planned gifts can take many forms and all will help secure engaging programs and exhibits so that we can continue telling the shared stories of America’s beginnings. * BEQUESTS: You may be looking for a way to make a significant gift to help further our mission. A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the most popular and flexible ways that you can support our museums and programs. * GIFTS OF STOCKS & BONDS: Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. * GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE: Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch or commercial property can make a great gift to the Foundation.* GIFTS OF RETIREMENT ASSETS: Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent way to make a gift to the Foundation. * GIFTS OF CASH: A gift of cash is a simple and easy way for you to make a gift. * GIFTS OF INSURANCE: A gift of your life insurance policy is an excellent way to make a gift to charity. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults.
- The Mathews Legacy Society: The Mathews Legacy Society honors friends of our museums who have established planned gifts to support our mission. Members of The Mathews Legacy Society are supporting future generations with their enduring investments in our mission to foster awareness and understanding of the early history, settlement and development of the United State

As the Foundation looks to the future, a highly successful public-private partnership will remain critical to our ability to meet audience expectations and to evolve in innovative and imaginative ways. As we look to the future, we have the opportunity to create a new vision for the Foundation and its museums and we invite private donors to be part of this exciting time.
