Membership

Become a member of the Academy Art Museum and enjoy exclusive benefits for an entire year. Free gallery admission, discounted classes and programs, and invitations to member-only events and the annual Members’ Exhibition are included at all membership levels. Choose the level that suits you best. Membership at specified levels are offered: * Student/Educator * Individual * Family * Friend * Sustainer * Advocate, and * Lifetime.

Donation

Your donation to the Academy Art Museum Annual Fund, which is fully tax-deductible, supports a wide range of exceptional exhibitions and educational outreach programs such as Family Art Days. These initiatives, along with school tours and after-school programs that reach over 2,500 area students each year are made possible by your generous support. You may give an amount of your choice. Recurring gifts are encouraged.

• Online: When you give to Academy Art Museum, your fully tax-deductible donation supports a wide range of exceptional exhibitions, special events, programs, lectures and educational outreach each year.

• Gifts of Stock: Gifts of appreciated securities, such as stocks and mutual funds, are excellent ways to support the Academy Art Museum. Such gifts are simple and may provide a greater tax benefit than an equivalent gift in cash.
• Matching Gifts: You may be able to double your donation to the Academy Art Museum. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs to match charitable contributions made by their employees. Gifts from retirees and spouses may also qualify for a match.

• Annual Fund: Your annual gift is the cornerstone of our success. The daily operations of the Museum depend upon the essential support of our members, our friends, and our community through donations to the Annual Fund. With your support each year, we’re able to:
  • • Offer free admission year-round, providing free access to art for over 11,000 people each year
    • Produce over 200 educational opportunities for more than 1,600 adult participants per year
    • Spark creativity in over 5,000 school children and their families per year
• Planned Giving: Donors who make a provision for the Museum in their estate plans can choose from a variety of options, including bequests, or naming the Museum as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a retirement account. A bequest designates a gift for the Academy Art Museum in your will, your trust, or another vehicle, such as your retirement account. You may arrange for the Museum to receive a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or other specified assets.
  Planned gifts provide the resources that sustain our future impact.
• Sponsorships: With annual attendance of 50,000, the Academy Art Museum is one of the top attractions in the area, yet ticket sales and other earned revenue support only a small fraction of our total operating costs. From exhibitions and events to education programs, there are many opportunities for restricted giving and sponsorship at the Academy Art Museum. Sponsorship opportunities include: * Exhibition Support * Education Programs, and * Event Sponsorship.
• Corporate Partnership: The Corporate Partners Program is an annual membership program that provides local businesses and their employees with a range of exciting opportunities and benefits. Annual revenue from the Corporate Partners Program provides critical support for the Museum’s operations and introduces new worlds of art and culture to thousands of adults, schoolchildren and families through AAM’s permanent collection, exhibitions, and educational and outreach programs.
• Corporate Matching Gifts: Does your company match contributions to non-profits? Take advantage of this great way to double (or triple!) the impact of your philanthropic dollar.
• Emerging Collector’s Circle: For Museum patrons who are under 45 or within the first three years of building their art collection. Members get one signed limited-edition print by the Museum’s Artist-in-Residence, as well as access to exciting programming throughout the year, such as curator-led visits to art fairs in the Mid-Atlantic, coffee talks on contemporary art at the Museum, and tailored advice on how to grow an art collection. Whether you are exploring the idea of starting an art collection, already live with art, or want to meet other art appreciators, join this vibrant community to meet fellow collectors and explore opportunities to purchase affordable art.
• Collection Society: The Collection Society is a Curatorial Program that supports the activities and acquisitions of the Academy Art Museum. It brings together people with a personal commitment to strengthening the Museum’s collection. The CS provides a unique opportunity to become closely involved with the Museum’s Permanent Collection. Through special programming and events, the CS builds relationships with the Museum’s director and curator and like-minded patrons in intimate, behind-the-scenes settings.
• Volunteer: Are you interested in the prospect of engaging visitors, enhancing your knowledge of art history and museums, and acting as a liaison between the Academy Art Museum and public? The Academy Art Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team! Volunteering at the Academy Art Museum plays an integral role in how our museum operates. Our volunteers have a variety of year-round opportunities that support and connect with our audiences. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with our seasonal events such as our Spring Gala and Craft Show, supporting exhibition installations and receptions, volunteering at our front desk, and leading Museum tours through our thriving Docent Program. Docents are highly trained volunteers who form an integral part of the Museum’s education department by leading interactive tours of the Museum’s exhibitions, and who share a common love for art and art history. By facilitating discussion and providing art historical context to the Museum’s various art exhibitions and art objects, the Docents form a vital connection between the art and the audience.
