ʻIolani Palace has several diverse spaces available for hosting an unforgettable event. The 11 acres of the Palace Grounds is spacious enough to entertain up to 8,000 people for * meetings * conventions, and * incentive groups, as well as * corporate events * weddingreceptions * lectures, or * small business luncheons. The Barracks (Halekoa) Courtyard & Video Theatre: Whether it be a wedding reception, business luncheon, intimate dinner party or corporate holiday celebration, Halekoa, or the ʻIolani Palace Barracks is the perfect venue for any special occasion. Halekoa’s coral block structure of limestone, and crenelated parapets and towers resemble architecture of medieval castles of Europe and create an atmosphere fit for any intimate event.
Barracks Lawn: A green lawn oasis in the middle of downtown. This is a pleasant location for an outdoor party or as an extension of an event in the Barracks. The Barracks Lawn is located outside of the Halekoa. This area is quintessential for hosting outdoor parties.
Coronation Pavilion & Lawn: The expanse around ʻIolani Palace comes complete with the Palace as its backdrop and is best suited for corporate parties and other large events.
Banyan Terrace: The Banyan Terrace features a slightly elevated terrace area amidst a large Indian banyan tree, which may have been planted by Queen Kapiolani. This location is best suited for small outdoor parties, intimate gatherings, award presentations, gala dinners or intimate concerts.
Kanaina Building: Conference Room – Housing the administrative offices of ʻIolani Palace, the Kanaina Building’s conference room is available for lectures, workshops, informal meals and meetings.

TYPES OF GIFTS: Philanthropic support of caring individuals through bequests, trusts, and other planned giving has been important for the support of Iolani Palace. Donors have the options to give the following types of donations:
Donations at specified amounts are designated and you may customize your gifts.
Tributes/Memorial Gifts: Honor or remember a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, or express gratitude by giving a commemorative gift. A personal acknowledgement will be sent to the individual or family honored/remembered.
Legacy Gifts: Naming The Friends of ‘Iolani Palace, as a beneficiary in your trust or estate plan continues your legacy and sustains ‘Iolani Palace’s for future generations.
Employer Matching Gifts: You can multiply your gift and make a bigger impact with a matching gift from your employer. Check with your employer and if they participate, mail us your completed employer matching gift form.
Unrestricted Gifts: Unrestricted gifts provide critical support for daily operation and maintenance of the royal residence that is so vital to our work in historic preservation, education, and conservation.
Restricted Gifts: Donors with a particular interest in the Palace are encouraged to make a targeted gift. Donations can be specified toward a range of options, including the Palace‘s acquisitions fund, educational projects, new Gallery exhibits, and more.
Gifts from Your Donor Advised Fund: Your gifts from your donor advised fund may be directed for day-to-day operations or a specific project need shared with you. Membership, special event fundraiser(s), and tour tickets are not eligible for gifts from your donor advised fund.
Gifts of Appreciated Property or Stock and Planned Giving: Giving appreciated assets may enable you to avoid paying capital gains taxes while simultaneously getting a tax deduction and helping ʻIolani Palace.
Community Partnerships: Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative – Consider sponsoring a legacy tree, in support of both Hawaiʻi’s forests and ‘Iolani Palace. The Friends of ʻIolani Palace receives $30 from each sponsored legacy tree.

Greeter – Ambassador of Aloha
Everyone wants to experience Hawaii’s Aloha Spirit. Greeters work at Hale Koa and the Palace Lanai/Steps to welcome and direct guests and answer questions. They always show visitors the true meaning of Aloha – the same care and kindness one gives to friends and family.
Guardian – Steward
Guardians or stewards look after guests and ensure that guests are taking care of the Palace and its artifacts during their tour. Guardians are also gracious hosts or hostesses throughout the Palace’s stately halls, exuding hospitality and Aloha with words, gestures, and expressions.
Palace Shop Floor Assistant
Floor Assistants greet customers who enter the Palace Shop and assist them in finding the goods and products they are looking for. Another duty is assisting with receiving, processing, and organizing shipments and deliveries as instructed.
Temperature Checker
Temperature Checkers are stationed at Hale Koa. They scan the forehead of each arriving guest with a non-contact infrared thermometer as part of the required health screening. After a satisfactory temperature reading, guests may proceed to pick up their tickets or enter the Palace Shop.
