From black-tie galas to intimate tours of the Mansion, Mount Vernon offers unforgettable experiences for groups of all sizes. Fireworks over the Potomac River, an award-winning Museum and Education Center, and the stunning backdrop of George Washington’s beloved home are just a few of the offerings not available anywhere else! NOTE: We will, whenever possible, allow men and women of the United States Armed Forces the special opportunity to hold brief military ceremonies after hours on the estate. For private evening events, Mount Vernon offers a variety of stunning indoor and outdoor settings, Mount Vernon welcomes organizations and corporations to co-host an unforgettable event at home of the first president. Five distinctive spaces include:

  • East Lawn: The Mansion’s East Lawn offers spectacular views across the Potomac River, unparalleled access to the grounds and historic area, and is always the perfect setting for creating an unforgettable evening for your organization. Capacity: 1,200
  • The Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center: The Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center offers an intimate event space coupled with access to Mount Vernon‘s award-winning Museum and Education Center exhibits. Please note that food and beverage are limited to the lobby area. Capacities: Seated: 100; Standing: 300+
  • Ford Orientation Center: The Ford Orientation Center is a stunning split-level building, ideal for both standing and seated events. This building also houses two movie theaters and the remarkable Mount Vernon in Miniature in the center of the Lower Lobby. Capacities: Seated: 300; Standing: 400+
  • George Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill: Just three miles from the Estate, Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill offers unique event spaces for smaller gatherings. Capacities: Indoor: 60; Tented: 250
  • Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant: The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is an ideal space for:
    • Weddings and receptions
    • Military receptions for re-enlistments, promotions and retirements
    • Personal celebrations and gatherings

    Located just steps from the Mansion, the entire Inn or individual dining rooms can be reserved for daytime or evening events. The Mount Vernon Inn offers a relaxing escape from Washington, D.C. and will transport your guests back to the charming world George Washington knew. Our dining rooms feature colonial-inspired décor and images of the historic Mount Vernon estate. Reserve the entire restaurant or individual dining rooms: * George Washington Room * Betsy Ross Room *  Veranda Room, and * Sunken Garden (We welcome acoustic, classical music (e.g. string quartet, trio, harp) or amplified music.) 

Meetings and Seminars: Be inspired by Washington’s legacy and his landmark plantation, while hosting your important meeting or gathering at the Mount Vernon Inn restaurant or in the Robert H. and Clarice Smith Auditorium:

  • Robert H. & Clarice Smith Auditorium: The Robert H. & Clarice Smith Auditorium seats 200 and is perfect for lectures, audio-visual presentations, seminars, and small recitals. Standard audio-visual equipment is available on-site, and nearby reception spaces at the Mount Vernon Inn offer a relaxing environment for coffee breaks or cocktails.
  • Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant: The charming rooms of the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant serve as unique sites for meetings and receptions. The entire Inn or individual dining rooms can be reserved for daytime or nighttime meetings and banquets.

Your extraordinary evening may include a personalized candlelight tour of the Mansion with stunning Potomac River views, a look at the Distillery & Gristmill, or an experience in the Museum and Education Center.   • The Food Court Pavilion and the Food Truck (seasonal and weather dependent) will satisfy this need to grab and go. The Food Court offers many options, including: * salads * deli sandwiches * hamburgers, and * fresh-baked cookies. Dine with us in our peaceful outdoor terrace or our air-conditioned pavilion. 
  • For those looking to step back into the more tranquil atmosphere of the 18th century, the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is right next door. Dine indoors or order takeout for pickup or delivery. Savor the flavors of early America. Estate admission is not required to dine.

Preserve the estate of our first President. It is owned and maintained in trust for the people of the United States by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, a private, non-profit organization. Government funding is not accepted thus Mount Vernon relies upon private contributions.

Membership

Your membership directly supports our mission of education and preservation of George Washington’s home and legacy. The membership program offers various levels to meet the ability of all supporters and provide exclusive benefits based on those levels: * Individual * Dual * Family, and * Patron Regent’s Circle (There are enhanced levels within each.)

Donation

You can help ensure Mount Vernon‘s future as an iconic American home and center for historic education. Donate now to complete critically needed restoration and preservation projects at the estate. This estate is your estate. This history is your history. This legacy is your legacy to share and secure.

  • Donations at specified amounts are designated or you may customize your gifts. You may designate your gift to be applied to the greatest need.
  • Tribute Gifts / Honor and Memorial Donations: Celebrate someone important to you with a special gift. These wonderful gifts can be made at any time. A special card is sent to the individual or family you have specified informing them of the gift. We do not disclose the amount of the donation.
  • Sustainer: Sustainers support Mount Vernon with monthly gifts via credit card. Sign up once and charges are processed subsequently on the first of the month: * IRA * Securities Transfer * Wire Transfer.
  • Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): As a section 501(c)(3) organization, George Washington’s Mount Vernon welcomes contributions you may recommend from a donor-advised fund (DAF).
