Volunteer

From Spring through Fall, individuals ages 18 & older are invited to join us for hands-on opportunities like working the growing fields alongside our farmers weekly as a Crop Crew, assisting with Queens Farm’s various public events as a Barnyard Events Crew, interacting with children, families and organizing as a Reading Room Crew, or helping with maintenance and operations as a Farmyard Fixer! Tasks are often physically strenuous, so we recommend wearing weather-appropriate, outdoor work attire (hat, sunglasses, layers, rain gear, gloves, closed-toed shoes, etc.) and packing a water bottle and snacks.

Volunteering at the farm has various benefits including meeting a community of like-minded people, gaining hands-on skills in agriculture, getting exercise and experiencing the calm of Queens Farm’s natural surroundings. All experience levels are welcome. Queens Farm offers a variety of different volunteer experiences

  • Barnyard Events Crew: Help QCFM staff to prepare and se-up events, and provide event day support to greet visitors, help them navigate the event, and assist in various activities. Event volunteers should have strong communication skills and be excited to share their enthusiasm for the Farm. 4 hour shifts, morning or afternoon during event days.
  • Reading Room Crew: Spend the day inside our Con Edison Reading room helping us stay organized. Categorize and tidy books and toys while answering visitor questions about the farm. Reading Room Crew should have experience communicating with families with young children. A love of reading appreciated! Hours available between 10am – 2pm every day and special event days.
  • Farm Fixer-Uppers: Could apply to volunteers working on any kind of physical improvement or maintenance on the farm, including tasks such as: trash pickup, light landscaping, and repairs. Farm Fixer-Uppers should be organized and task-oriented, focused on the operational side of the farm.
  • Crop Crew: Help QCFM staff with assorted farm tasks! Weeding, planting, harvesting, mulching, and/or other farm tasks as needed. Work the growing fields alongside our farmers!
  • Corporate Volunteers: Discuss tailored experiences by contacting QCFM.
