Battleship New Jersey, the US Navy’s most decorated battleship, is a unique and historic facility ready to host your next social, corporate, or special event. From the Battleship’s decks, the skyline of the Philadelphia and Camden Waterfronts provides an extraordinary backdrop for your special occasions. And as you follow in the footsteps of the proud crews of the “Big J,” you’ll appreciate what it must have been like to be a member of the Battleship New Jersey’s crew. Eight distinctive spaces are available:
- Tented Fantail: Corporate events, receptions, & more! Ideal for hosting events from 350 guests for dinner up to 800 guests for a reception, the fantail is the largest area on the ship. The main tent alone can comfortably fit 200 seated guests. Outdoors and tented aft, the fantail is on the Main Deck. This versatile space is perfect for everything from: * wedding receptions and * cocktail parties to * business meetings and * trade shows. We can rent additional tables, high-top tables, a dance floor, and more.
- Capacity: Seated Dinner – 350 guests / Standing Reception – 800 guests / Theater Style – 400 guests
- Main Deck Portside: Private Parties, Receptions & more! With amazing views of the Philadelphia skyline, Benjamin Franklin Bridge and Delaware River, the Main Deck Portside is the perfect place for a reception or party.
- Officer’s Wardroom: Meetings of any kind or sit-down meals! Experience first hand how the Big J’s officers spent their meetings and meal time. This stately area is ideal for parties that include up to 60 guests for dinner and 80 guests for a reception. In this stately area, experience firsthand how the Big J’s officers spent their meal time.
- Capacity: Seated Dinner – 60 guests / Standing Reception – 80 guests
- Chief’s Mess: Meetings or breakout sessions! Chief’s Mess and Lounge provide a unique location for corporate retreats or any event that requires a boardroom setting. Perfect for an occasion when a breakout room is required, this space accommodates groups of up to 50 guests. The nearby ship’s library is also available when an additional private meeting space is needed.
- Captain’s Cabin: Sit-down dinners, cocktail receptions, & more! This space can be used to serve an elegant sit-down dinner for 12, or to hold an intimate cocktail reception for 50. The outdoor 01 Deck, immediately is also adjacent to the Captain’s Cabin, providing indoor-outdoor versatility and dramatic views of the new and exciting Camden Waterfront and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
- Capacity: Seated Dinner -12 guests / Standing Reception – 50 guests
- Admiral’s Cabin: Sit-down dinners, cocktail receptions, & more! Imagine what it was like to sail with the legendary Admiral William F. “Bull” Halsey! The Admiral’s Cabin accommodates seated guests for dinner or a reception, and can accommodate about 20 guests total. The outdoor 01 Deck is also immediately adjacent to the Admiral’s Cabin and faces the (Philadelphia) portside.
- Capacity: Seated Dinner – 8 guests / Standing Reception – 20 guests
- Forecastle: Ceremonies, weddings, military events, & more! Outside in the forward section of the ship, the Forecastle provides a breathtaking location for outdoor events. With the ship’s superstructure and two forward 16-inch gun turrets forming the backdrop, this unique venue offers panoramic views of the riverfront and Philadelphia skyline. An ideal location for formal ceremonies of all kinds. We can also rent a tent to be installed on the forecastle per request.
- Capacity: Standing Reception – 300 guests / Theater Style – 250 guests
- The Crew’s Mess: Sit-down meals for events, receptions, & more! Provide a unique experience for your guests. The Crew’s Mess is divided into two spaces. Crew Mess A accommodates groups up to 184 guests. Crew Mess B holds up to 80 guests. When combined, this space with stationary tables and chairs will hold up to 264 guests. Perfect for hosting cafeteria-style events, the Crew’s Mess will take you back to the times when nearly 2,000 members of the crew “chowed down” to that famous Navy cooking.
- Crew’s Mess “A” Capacity: 184 guests / Crew’s Mess “B” Capacity: 80 guests / Combined 264 guests

Whether you’re honoring a veteran, remembering a loved one, or commemorating a special milestone, your brick will become a permanent part of the ship’s historic pier. Place your name or a family/friend’s name, or any message on a brick. The brick will then be placed on the memorial pier for all to see. You can also get a replica brick for your home or office for an additional fee. Your donation will serve as a permanent reminder of your support of our nation’s most decorated battleship.
- Artifact Donation: (Artifact donation guidelines for the Battleship New Jersey.) The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial thanks you for your interest in donating to us! To fulfill our mission, we accept a variety of materials and artifacts to use for exhibitions, research, and hands on education. The Museum follows the ethical guidelines for acquiring artifacts established by the American Alliance of Museums. The Museum reviews every donation offer to determine whether it supports our mission and meets collection criteria.

Volunteers can work with veterans and youth groups, participate in certain events, attend specialized lectures and tours. You’ll work with men and women who share a common interest in learning, studying, and teaching our nation’s naval history as well as preserving the world’s most decorated battleship. Volunteers also gain access to the ship’s private library with over a thousand books, manuscripts, charts, historical records, artifacts, and memorabilia. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available including lecturer, librarian, historical researcher, restoration specialist, maintenance, radio club, clerical support, or stationed tour guide.
