The New Museum’s iconic building, located on the Bowery at the intersection of SoHo and the Lower East Side, offers a variety of event spaces for corporate and individual Members to entertain in the setting of a cutting-edge contemporary art museum. The New Museum‘s building, with its beautiful, rough aesthetic and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, can also be a unique backdrop for: * commercials * photo shoots * television programs, and * feature films. Our special events team can help make your event an extraordinary experience for your guests. Three distinctive spaces are offered:
- Sky Room: Located on the top floor of the building is our premier space, the Sky Room. With floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound terrace, this adaptable space provides stunning, panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline. The award-winning architecture is a dramatic backdrop for cocktail receptions for up to 200 people, or seated dinners for up to 100.
- Marcia Tucker Hall: The ground floor lobby, Marcia Tucker Hall, features polished concrete floors, glass walls leading to streetscape views, and our Lobby Gallery, which offers capsule contemporary art exhibitions. The lobby accommodates up to 350 for cocktails or 100 for seated events.
- Theater: Our state-of-the-art, double-height theater, with flexible seating arrangements and an elegant pre- and post-event area, serves as an ideal setting for functions of all kinds, including digital screenings on our projection screen, panel discussions, and live performances. The theater can seat 160 with full stage or 180 without a stage.

Whether it is presenting cutting-edge art by unknown and under-recognized artists, creating enriching educational programs that illuminate the world we live in, or organizing groundbreaking, community-changing initiatives, the New Museum continues to lead the discourse on transformative, informative, and educational art and ideas.
- Contemporary Council: Contemporary Council members receive a behind-the-scenes look into the New Museum’s mission of NEW ART, NEW IDEAS. Contemporary Council members are offered personal access to an exclusive program with our curatorial team and other art world professionals. Benefits of Contemporary Council membership last for one year and members are asked to make an annual contribution of $2,500 ($2,340 tax-deductible).
- Friends Of The Triennial: The Friends of the Triennial provide critical support for the New Museum Triennial. The group benefits from a program of exclusive events developed by the exhibition’s co-curators, Curator Margot Norton at the New Museum, and Jamillah James, Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. In recognition of their support, Friends of the Triennial also receive a Limited Edition by a Triennial artist, created especially for supporters of the exhibition. Previous Triennial Limited Edition artists include Eloise Hawser (2015) and Adrián Villar Rojas (2012).
- Producers Council: The Producers Council is an invitation-only membership group of contemporary art patrons, collectors, and arts professionals who seek a deeper connection to the New Museum’s program and exhibitions. Producers Council members benefit from a robust program designed exclusively for them by our renowned team of top curators, including the opportunity to participate in our acclaimed Art Study Tours. The Council provides critical support for New Museum Lobby Gallery exhibitions, a space serving as a dedicated platform for gifted early career artists.
- Research And Residencies (R&R) Council: The Research And Residencies (R&R) Council provides essential support for the New Museum’s Department of Education and Public Engagement, which delivers innovative public programming for our diverse audiences of all ages, often with artist participation, to encourage greater access to contemporary culture. The New Museum’s Education and Public Engagement Department serves over 18,000 adults, teens, and families annually.
- Artemis Council: The Artemis Council is a dedicated group of patrons who directly support exhibitions, new commissions, and residencies by women artists at the New Museum. After a successful inaugural year, the group is deeply committed to championing gender equality in the arts that is central to the New Museum’s DNA.
- International Leadership Council: The International Leadership Council provides leadership support to New Museum programs and exhibitions while serving as global ambassadors of our mission of New Art, New Ideas. Benefits last for one year, and members are asked to make an annual contribution of $15,000 ($14,600 tax-deductible).
- Matching Gifts: Does your employer offer a matching gift program? Many employers will match your contribution to the New Museum, doubling the impact of your support. Both Membership and Annual Fund donations qualify as matching gifts; however, the value of the match will not affect your Membership level or status. Participating in your employer’s matching gift program will increase the value of your contribution to the New Museum and help us to expand our outstanding exhibitions, bold programming, and exceptional education programs.
- Planned Giving: Help the New Museum stay forever new by considering a legacy gift in your estate plan today. Planned giving offers donors a variety of ways to leave assets to an organization through careful estate planning today. Additionally, there are alternative ways for donors to make a gift so that they receive benefits during his or her lifetime and then can bequeath the remaining assets to the organization. Charitable gift planning becomes an integral part of overall asset planning for an individual or their family. Your legacy gift will help the New Museum continue to build a strong and stable foundation to ensure a dynamic future. - Limited Edition Program: The New Museum’s signature Limited Edition program was conceived in 1984 as a creative way to support the Museum’s programs and exhibitions. The majority of the Limited Editions have sold out entirely and many have been included in museum shows around the world. Between one and two Limited Editions are produced annually. The Museum also unveils an exclusive Edition at the New Museum’s Spring Gala each year, which is available only to Gala guests.
