• Memorial Giving: Honoring a person’s memory is a wonderful way to celebrate their life. You can preserve their legacy by having their name promote equality and the work of the Human Rights Campaign.
• Planned Giving: Leaving a gift for HRC in your will, trust or by beneficiary designation ensures a future of full equality for all LGBTQ people and their families. HRC needs your long-term support as we continue to lead the fight in Washington, in states, in houses of worship, in schools, in cities and towns across the country and around the globe for full equality for everyone, everywhere. As long as even one LGBTQ person faces anything less than full equality, our work remains undone. With your enduring support through a gift in your will or trust or by beneficiary designation, we will prevail.
  • Gifts in a Will: A gift by will or trust is one of the most popular ways to provide long-term support for HRC’s work to ensure a future of full equality. You retain control of your assets during your lifetime and can change your beneficiaries at any time. You can complete your gift with just a few sentences in your will or trust. You can arrange your bequest to provide for loved ones as well as HRC. And you will help ensure the future of the LGBTQ movement, regardless of the size of your gift.
  • Retirement Plan Gift: Retirement assets are among the most heavily taxed, making them an ideal resource for charitable giving once you no longer need the assets yourself. As the charitable affiliate of HRC, the HRC Foundation is exempt from paying the taxes that might otherwise be owed. Consider making the HRC Foundation a beneficiary of your retirement assets and leaving other less-heavily taxed assets to loved ones.
  • Life Insurance Gift: It’s not uncommon for people to have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose. If you have a life insurance policy, you can use it (or a percentage of it) to reduce your taxes and create a gift for ADL that demonstrates your commitment to the future of the LGBTQ movement.
  • CDs, Bank Accounts, and Brokerage Accounts: This method is one of the best and easiest ways to make a real difference for the LGBTQ movement. Naming HRC as the beneficiary of a certificate of deposit, a checking or savings bank account, or a brokerage account helps ensure equality for future generations.
  • Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Residuals: Final distribution of contributions remaining in a Donor-Advised Fund is governed by the contract you completed when you created your fund. We hope you will consider naming the HRC Foundation as a beneficiary of your account. Or, you can name us the beneficiary a portion of the account value, leaving the remaining portion for your heirs to continue your legacy of philanthropy.
  • Charitable Gift from Your IRA: You can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA and make an immediate impact.
  • Gifts of Appreciated Securities: You can use stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that have appreciated in value to ensure equal rights for all people through the HRC Foundation. You may receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock (up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income) and avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the stock.
  • Car Donations: Donate your car, motorcycle, RV, boat or other vehicle and support the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
• Athletes for Equality: Runners, Walkers, Cyclist, Triathletes. Beginners or seasoned racers. Passionate enthusiasts for LGBTQ+ equality. Be an Athlete for Equality in whatever way suits you. Join one of our fundraising teams, or choose Any Race, Any Place.
• Fly an HRC Flag in Someone’s Honor: Each and every day, HRC flies our flag with pride above our Washington, D.C., office. You can honor a loved one or friend by flying an HRC flag in their name. Once your flag has been flown, we will send it to you with a certificate to commemorate your contribution to the fight for equality.
• Join HRC’s Wedding Registry: Have a toaster already? Don’t need a new lamp for your living room? Forego the gifts and opt into HRC‘s Wedding Registry, directing your guests to donate to HRC in honor of your wedding. Our template allows you to create a custom page with your story and pictures to share with your guests.
• Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Want to use your birthday, a holiday or another special occasion to support HRC? Host a fundraiser to benefit our work – it couldn’t be easier, and every dollar raised will help push equality forward.
• Giving Circle Donations: Giving Circles are groups of individuals who pool their donations and decide together where to give. Each member of your Giving Circle who contributed toward your donation is eligible for an annual HRC membership.

Volunteer: Join our frontlines! HRC’s powerful network of all-volunteer communities comprises people from a wide array of backgrounds, experiences, identities, and skill sets. We welcome you to join HRC in the movement of defending progress and advancing equality in your community. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved! Volunteers are the backbone of HRC, and our volunteers work on the front lines in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. We invest in our volunteers through leadership development and recognition programs, offering workshops, conferences, online resources and support from staff to ensure that our leaders become the strongest and most effective advocates, leaders and fundraisers they can be.
