As a VENUE: Host your event…
As a non-profit that manages Deepwood for the City of Salem, the Friends of Deepwood rents out the gardens and covered court area for private events. This allows us to keep history, culture and our ongoing programs alive for the community. Two distinctive spaces are available:
- Gardens: Deepwood Museum & Gardens is a beautiful backdrop for any event with its manicured formal gardens and nature trails, set beside our 1894 Queen Anne style Victorian home and carriage house. The venue features several gardens, and a tented tennis court all connected by brick and gravel pathways bordered by charming wrought iron fencing and gates. Ivy covered arbors and gazebos provide unparalleled photo opportunities. Rent the outside areas for: * weddings * receptions * showers * parties * birthdays * reunions * retirements * memorials * private teas * corporate meetings, and * Wedding Packages: Deepwood recognizes that wedding couples have different expectations and needs for their wedding day, and we offer different packages to accommodate those needs. If you’re looking for a ceremony in one of the beautiful formal gardens and an outdoor reception on the covered and lit Court Area, you’ll want to explore the Victorian Dreams wedding package. If you’re interested in a lovely ceremony and reception on the sprawling property, the Garden Gala package has what you need. Do you need a venue for your reception only? Then look no further at our Tented Court Ball package.
- Museum: Rent the Deepwood Museum for your next event. We rent the main floor of the historic home for more intimate groups. During the holidays the home is decorated in true Victorian fashion, providing a great backdrop for your next Christmas party!

Donations:
Gifts to Deepwood help provide important funding to preserve the historic house, maintain the gardens and grounds, and educate the next generation. Monetary, in-kind and artifact donations are just some of the ways you can support Deepwood. If you prefer to share your time with us, many volunteer opportunities are available such as leading historic house tours, assisting with events and programs, and gardening. Partnering with us as an event sponsor, or joining us as a vendor, are other ways you can help support the Friends of Deepwood mission.
- Monetary Donations: Cash gifts are the simplest way to maximize the impact of your support for Deepwood. Donations can be made to the General Fund where they support the overall operation of the museum, or you can designate your donation to support specific areas, including gardens and grounds, house and collections, or educational programs. You can also make your gift in honor or in memory of someone.
- Gifts of Art and Artifacts: Friends of Deepwood is a collecting organization that furnishes the historic house museum and displays exhibits relating to Deepwood and local Salem history. We are currently focusing on collecting original items that belonged to the families that resided in the home and high quality antique furniture from the Victorian and Edwardian eras in excellent condition.
- In-Kind Gifts: You can support Deepwood with in-kind donations such as silent auction items (gift certificates, food, and wine), services such as advertising or printing, and tangible items such as office furniture and computer equipment.
- Estate and Planned Gifts: There are many ways you can contribute to Deepwood, leave a vital legacy for our shared future, and ensure that your generosity will live beyond your lifetime. Whether you make a commitment through your will, living trust, retirement plan, life insurance policy, or a charitable remainder trust, your gift will ensure that Deepwood remains the Heart of Historic Salem.
- Endowment Gifts: Deepwood’s endowment was initiated by a generous donation from Conrad and Muriel Stieber and invested with the Oregon Community Foundation. It was created to provide a permanent source of operating income for the museum. Gifts to the endowment account will be added to the principal and held in perpetuity with the income generated from the investment used to support exhibitions, programs, and long-term preservation efforts.
- AmazonSmile: Simply shop at this link or with AmazonSmile ON in the Amazon Shopping app (select Friends of Deepwood as Amazon Smile benefiting organization) and AmazonSmile donates to Friends of Deepwood.
