As a VENUE: Host your event…
The perfect place for your event! The Sheldon invites you to experience the elegance of a bygone era. Located in the Grand Center Arts and entertainment district in midtown St. Louis, The Sheldon has reigned among the city’s finest special event facilities since 1912. Four distinctive event spaces are offered:
- Concert Hall: With its perfect acoustics, The Sheldon Concert Hall is recognized among the nation’s finest performing facilities. This setting is ideally suited for special concert performances, corporate meetings, seminars and lectures. The hall features original curved wood theatre seating on two levels, with unrestricted views from all 712 seats.
- The Konneker Room: Featuring a modern update on Sheldon architect Louis Spiering’s Arts and Crafts style, The Konneker Room (formerly the Louis Spiering Room) has been re-imagined for a new era. This jaw-droppingly elegant room is situated on the third floor of the Emerson Galleries Building and provides room for 500 seated guests and up to 650 standing. Boasting a spectacular view of the city’s Central West End and Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, the room is perfect for receptions, annual meetings, seminars and dinners.
- Ballroom: Overlooking the city’s Central West End, The Sheldon Ballroom features golden hardwood flooring, a full stage and dramatic beamed ceilings with large skylights. This intimate setting accommodates 200-250 for dinner or more than 300 for cocktail receptions. For flexibility in special event planning, The Sheldon offers a catering kitchen for exceptional food service, as well as an open catering policy.
- Art Galleries + Atrium: A glass walkway links The Sheldon’s historic facilities with the contemporary elegance of the Art Galleries + Atrium lobby. The lobby, overlooking the Sculpture Garden, is perfect for luncheons and cocktail receptions. Or, a private gallery opening can dramatically enhance any event, and is available for all our gallery spaces: the Bellwether Gallery of St. Louis Artists, Bernoudy Gallery of Architecture, Ann Lee and Wilred Konneker Gallery, Nancy Spirtas Kranzberg Gallery, Gallery of Music, Gallery of Photography, or AT&T Gallery of Children’s Art.

Supporters receive many benefits including recognition in promotional materials and on The Sheldon’s website, tickets to the sponsored concert or invitation to the gallery opening for you and guests, complimentary parking, private reception in the Patrons Lounge and many other benefits.
- Support Education Programs for Students: The Sheldon presents music education programs that introduce young people to many genres of music, teach respect for diversity and connect to school curriculum including history, social studies, language arts and STEAM disciplines. The Sheldon Art Galleries present workshops for young people with both national and local visual artists, usually in conjunction with exhibits by these artists in the galleries. Students learn photography, painting and drawing, and a portion of their work is often shown in the Gallery of Children’s Art.
- Donate an Instrument: Have unused instruments taking up space in your attic? Give the gift of music with a donation to the Music For Lifelong Achievement program! Donated instruments are distributed to schools and organizations in need, giving children of all ages the opportunity to learn to play music.
- Donate Appreciated Securities: Giving stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares that have increased in value (and which the donor has owned for more than one year) provides donors with greater tax benefits than giving cash. Not only can the donor deduct the full market value of the securities but also avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
- Give the Gift of The Sheldon: Your gift to The Sheldon for a friend, loved one’s birthday or anniversary is the perfect way to share your love and support our organization. Gift cards can be used online, by phone, or in person for purchase of tickets to any performance at The Sheldon.
Volunteer: We can’t do it without you. One of the key factors to our success is our team of volunteers who donate their time throughout the season, providing knowledgeable, friendly service to the thousands of people who visit The Sheldon each year. From seating patrons at concerts and giving tours of the art galleries, to helping out with mailings and other office duties, Sheldon volunteers perform a wide range of jobs.
