Donations

Your Generosity Makes Our Work Possible:

The Heard Museum relies on the generosity of supporters like you to serve as a jewel of our community — educating and inspiring our visitors while creating critical opportunities for artists and cultural partners. We appreciate your support, whether you choose to donate to our Annual Fund, support an exhibition or program, or include the Heard in your estate plans. Your financial support enables us to advance our mission every day — thank you.

  • Give to the Annual Fund: All gifts to the Heard are meaningful, no matter how big or small. Your contributions help us to realize our goals to present world class exhibits and events to the public. By giving to the Annual Fund, you enable our day-to-day operations and allow us to fulfil our mission to connect Indigenous creativity to the world.
  • Make a Tribute Gift: Tribute gifts are a wonderful way to recognize someone or mark a significant occasion in your life, like celebrating a special birthday, anniversary, or holiday, giving in memory of a friend, spouse, or loved one, or saying thank you. You can designate your gift to a specific area of the museum like an educational program, the Billie Jane Baguley Library and Archives, the acquisitions fund, or to the annual fund. All contributions are acknowledged to the donor with a tax receipt and the honoree or the honoree’s family is also notified of your gift.
  • Giving Art: Gifting objects from your personal collection to the Heard Museum is a very personal and meaningful experience. The Heard Family’s collection gift is the foundation of the museum and our permanent collection is built on not only acquisitions but gifts from collectors over our 85-year tenure. A gift of art will be considered first for accession into our world-renowned collection. If the item is outside the scope of the permanent collection, the development staff is then able to liquidate the object or group of objects and retain profits for the museum. Your gift strengthens the Heard and becomes part of your legacy as a donor.
  • Planned Giving: By including the Heard Museum in your long range gift planning, through estate gifts or major gifts in your lifetime, you help ensure the future success of the museum. The Maie Bartlett Heard Society is a group of philanthropists who have demonstrated a dedication to the museum like our founding patrons Maie Bartlett and Dwight Heard. By designating the Heard in your will or trust you will become a member of the Maie Bartlett Heard Society and will be invited to special educational luncheons and programs. Our development staff works with you and your estate advisor about the possibilities of making such a gift, recognition of your legacy contributions, and furthering your relationship with our organization.

Corporate Partnership: As pillars of our society, the cultural and corporate sectors have the responsibility to work together to build a strong, well-rounded and enriched community. By partnering your organization with the Heard Museum, you can have a direct impact on making Phoenix a more vibrant community in which to live and work. We have many opportunities for you to become engaged with the arts through supporting our internationally-recognized programs and events. The Heard Museum’s corporate partners enjoy significant museum benefits, including a wide variety of public and private events, multi-channel recognition and advertising, cross-promotions to constituent and customer bases, and employee engagement opportunities.

Volunteer: Members are the heart of the Heard Museum, and many give generously of their time through the museum’s volunteer organizations: the Guild and Council. Each group sponsors public programs as well as special events for their members. Nearly 400 members of the museum’s volunteer organization give their time and talents throughout the year. The Heard Museum Guild has contributed more than 1.5 million hours of volunteer time to the Museum.
